Posts: 33 Georgia | Hi Everyone,
Has anyone with S1L2 exhaust removed the baffles. I've had mine on for about a year and was thinking about removing the baffles to hear how it sounds. I removed the set screws when I first had it installed but the baffles didn't seem to want to come out,so I was wondering if anyone had removed theirs and how hard were they to remove. |

Posts: 324 New Orleans, La, | I've had them for years now. I don't like the way they sound without the baffles sound kinda like a medium size Jap bike. To remove the baffles remove the set screw, a tamper proof torx, and slide them out. They are in there tighter when new but loosen with age. Hope that helps also the bike runs with big lost of low end torque without the baffles.JMHO. |

Posts: 1365 Central Maryland | Someone either here; or on another forum (I can't remember which) slid their S1L2 baffles out; and then wrapped a piece of sheet metal around the first forward half of each baffle; and then secured it tightly with hose clamps; and then slid the baffle back in.
He reported it to have a much better sound; deeper with more growl.
I do plan on removing my baffles as well; but only for the purpose of ensuring (and internally treating) the S1L2's inside chromed pipes; since I see a little rust developing at the ends.

Posts: 599 New Mexico | I had my S1L2 installed before I took possesion of the bike, and then took the baffles out within a day or two. That was 58k miles / 4+ years ago, so memory a little hazy. As I recall one side slipped right out, but the other I could not remove for some reason. I ended up taking to the dealer for removal.
I like the sound. Mean thumper. I do have soot on inside of pipes that may or may not be associated with their removal, and can't speak to loss of low end as have always been this way.
