Posts: 43 Connecticut | Hi everyone. I think I found a forum dedicated to Victory Vision MOTORCYCLES. A place where folks can share rides, experience and knowledge about MOTORCYCLES. I like to ride and this is my fourth Victory MOTORCYCLE. Anyone care to share any info about MOTORCYCLES? |

Posts: 43 Connecticut | O.K., I'll be first. Can a person be first a second time? I spend a lot of money on gas for my MOTORCYCLES. I don't like it but it's cheaper than a psychiatrist! Sometimes it takes a whole tank to rid the noises in my head. Sometimes I shop at Wal-Mart. I don't go to Costco. I ride twolanes in the country on my MOTORCYCLE. Sometimes I ride past sheep and animals and even vegetables. My wife always rides with me. |

Posts: 43 Connecticut | Alright. I'm first again. I ride MOTORCYCLES every Sunday. To quote a rider " the walls of my church are made of asphalt, brick and solid steel; it's lined with rock and wood, river and ocean. I ride its pulpit and I preach its damn gospel." |

Posts: 43 Connecticut | I guess I'm still first. I hope I'm not only. Can it be on a MOTORCYCLE forum everyone talks about anything but MOTORCYCLES? The Vision is a faster bike because its smooth and smooth is fast. My Harley riding group already learned that. The Vision is BMW smooth. I am a MOTORCYCLE enthusiast. I look at many MOTORCYCLE websites and subscribe to several MOTORCYCLE magazines. Can anyone here share anything related to MOTORCYCLES? I would really like this to be a MOTORCYCLE forum. I guess I'll remove toungue from cheek now. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | I wish you would talk a lot more about your Vision. You have one to compare to your previous ride. Talk about the experience. What are the Harley guys really saying about the bike. They huff and puff on their own forums but once they see one in person and in action, what is their response? Denial? Disgust? Admiration? What? The whole purpose of the bike is to be divisive and controversial. I would love to see a picture of one, surrounded by other brands, and have the Vision guy talk about that experience. What do your non-motorcyclist friends and family members really think? You've done one of the coolest mods so far with the smoked out front end. What would you differently? Let's see some pix of it on the road, during the day and at night. I personally think that the huge plastic piece in front of the windshield, plus the leading edge of the cowling overpowers the front end and distracts from the lines of the bike. The cowling looks like a Great White Shark that is about to devour the front tire, especially from the side. I see a herd of Visions from the front and it looks like boomerangs (or maybe white B-2 bombers) in formation.(Like the windshield trim on the Chrysler Crossfire. Great looking car but the wide aluminum trim is a glaring distraction on every color except silver.) I've already talked to my dealer about color-matching those pieces in Midnight Cherry, just to downplay an already huge front end. It might cost about $300 but it would be unique and still look stock if you never saw one before. As the Visions come out, the custom paint jobs are going to be awesome. It is a huge canvas. You guys out riding them need to talk about your Vision, the reactions to it and keep the pictures coming. One good thread might be "Here's what happened to me today..." That goes an awful long way towards keeping us focused. |

Posts: 43 Connecticut | Allright, from the beginning. Focus..stay with me here. I had a Road King. Had to make it comfortable for "she who must be obeyed." I thought that took away from its lines. Wanted a second bike just for me. Waiting for new models to come out so I could get a deal on a leftover and I saw the Harley dealer raise the printed prices so they could discount to the price they had originally!! Ordered a kingpin sight unseen. That was the first Victory and haven't looked backed. The Harley guys thought is was a great bike, but not for them. I totally customized the Kingpin, purple with silver flames, entered into 12 shows, took 12 trophies. The only Victory in a sea of Harleys. I did want another tourer so I broke my own rule and bought a Screamin' Eagle electraglide. specifically for "she". I have to plan and lead our weekly rides by default, and so they follow me while I'm waiting for Victory to build a touring bike. Stay tuned for more... |

Posts: 43 Connecticut | Two of the regular riders work for two different Harley dealers. They share more horror stories than can be imagined. Owning both brands, I paid for the right to express my opinions. We're friends, everythings good natured. I took the Kingpin to the max and needed another bike for me. I bought a Ness Jackpot. I have learned to trust the Victory product and the Victory dealer. Something I couldn't do with the other brand. The Kingpin left the garage. Have taken many pleasant rides on the SEEG. Have seen beautiful places in several states and was still waiting for the Victory touring bike. |

Posts: 43 Connecticut | Apologies. Sometimes I have to take care of business. I work in a city that never sleeps. When it became painfully obvious that There was no tourer coming for '07, I bit the bullet and bought a Vic Touring Cruiser. Customized it with a fairing and stereo amongst other things and still led the Harley group rides. Mustang seat and the wife loved the ride. Hardly rode the Harley all this year. Went to NY in January to see the unveiling of the Vision. Had to be sure I fit on it. Inseam challanged. Had the order placed the next day. So I too have experienced frustrations and lack of patience, but in the end I trusted Victory would build a tourer that I would ride and over a year later they did. The vision was scheduled for delivery and postponed three separate times. The touring cruiser is for sale. The Vision came home.
My wife loves the ride, the seat, the suspension, the comfort. Didn't take me too long to get used to the bike, now the SEEG feels almost awkward. Riding group was surprised and shocked by its size and looks. Further surprised by its power and handling. Lots of immediate comments of "riding a little fast today?" "little cowboy this ride" I am not going any faster in speed than with the TCD or the SEEG. This just has superior handling and torque creating smoother cornering and exiting the turns. The brakes are a lot better also.
A couple of weeks ago, we all ride to an area Harley dealer Biketoberfest. Free food, band and about 500 bikes in attendance. At the end of the day I wanted to rope off the bike, there were times when the crowd around it was three deep. Numerous positive comments from complete strangers mostly about the large 106 on the engine wedges. Can't compare that to the other brand. |

| Well, I guess you figure out if they ain't complaining they have nothing to say.
I have '99 V92C with 56,000 and an '03 V92C with 40,000. I am planning to trade the '03 in for a Vision in the spring. I did not need to be the first one on my street plus I wanted demo ride (4 times already) before I decided to buy. I have a 28" inseam and wanted to make the bike and I would fit together and all is well.
I ride local to Sturgis and even made CA in 3 days last year. Victory is a GREAT bike. My only "complaint" is it doesn't have a kickstand safety switch but many bikes don't.
Where in CT are you located? I am on the RI by the ocean.
Sorry you had bad luck with your HD and the dealer. Like any business there are good and bad. Where do you buy your Vics? |

Posts: 43 Connecticut | I had to sit on the bike to be sure I fit it and vice versa. It does. It is the lowest in the class. You'll fit fine! It wasn't just the local Harley dealer, I've had four do substandard work on my bike. I now have my Victory dealer service my Harley. Bridgeport, the homicide capitol of Connecticut., but I travel 85 measured miles to Advanced Automotive in Griswold, Ct. Very close to upstate R.I. |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | HAVNFN, Let me be third,I too have a MOTORCYCLE, and I ride a MOTORCYLE, and I see MOTORCYCLES all the time. I occassionally browse through some MOTORCYCLE magazines. I have already expressed my opinion on a couple of other threads. I have attempted to start a few threads and use some frozen Veggies and guns. But I have really had no major issues with the bike and I am just waiting for the weather to get bad so I can take it to the dealer and let them fix what is wrong with it.
Please, do tell, what can a bunch of folks, really say or talk about, if they don't have the bike or are associated with someone who does. For some of these guys, their dealers don't even have bikes to talk about. So, what better way to vent or visit your local forum for a little ranting. Sure, we get a little sidetracked. Bring up a topic that will inspire the masses to get involved or thinking. Got any artists that can draw. I would volunteer but stickmen is the best I can do. Maybe some really cool graphic designs or as you are doing blacking out, customizing.
How many miles you got on that beast. I rolled over 1700 and still riding daily. There is not a day that goes by that someone doesn't ask about it or a thumbs up or commenting on it. I will explain Halloween in a moment. If you would like to chime in and Harass Buckeye to alleviate his pain or attempt to add to it feel free. I have attempted to add to his pain but he just keeps coming back and a lot of times really doesn't respond to what I bashed him about. But, he still drinks coffee and is waiting, I applaud him and the guy in his head. However, he should trade out the guy in his head for something of the opposite sex and with an awesome body and he might just forget about everyone else.
A lot of sites really just complain about this or the other thing, the good thing about this so far is their hasn't been a lot of complaining about the bike just the folks who work for it or the representation of the company. |

| MOTORCYCLES don`t do much for me, but RIDING the motorcycles do. Do what? I don`t know, makes me FOCUS, stimulates the brain and NARROWS my FOCUS, gets me in the FLOW ZONE. Faster is better. Challenging roads or the track on a sportbike are self-explanatory, these slower heavier ill-handling V-twin having bikes are more problematic. But they WORK, so who cares? |

Impatient?? LOL... I Know I am. Seriously, your first posts weren't responsded to I'm guessing because they were posted within minutes of each other and no one was around. This is a bulletin board, not a chat room. I'm just's say'n... Now that I have seen this,
I LOVE talking motorcycles. I currently ride Victory and Guzzi mostly. I love V-twins and I love good engineering. You may appreciate that I am actually a proud Connecticut Yankee. Whether I like it or not, and if I never return, I was born and raised there, so anytime I see that CT Yankee ingenuity in something, I'm all over it.
For that aren't familiar, it's a way of looking at things from a level of efficiency. It's more than that, but that's at the heart. Like Victory, and especially with the Vision, they looked at MOTORCYCLES and RIDERS. They took a proven concept and rather than just making it faster or bigger or more comfy, they looked at the individual components and thought about how to do them better. The whole air-intake thing.. What a pain the whole "airbox" thing is on any bike. It's crucial to performance. How do we get air into the engine, as much air as we need, even more, and not have to build these fandagled boxes. Oh wait... bike's gotta have a frame, frame goes right over engine, gee.... hmmmm... and there you have it. Maybe it was more than that, but it's those kinds of things that turn me on.
The integration of the audio system. I built essentially the same thing for my V92C. It's not half as good, or half as integrated and it took me two years. I won't bore you with the mundane, but unless you get into some really really high-end cars you don't find systems like that... and it's just a "creature comfort." The "tipover protection".... sheer genius.
I'm a fan of Moto Guzzi for the same reasons. Arguably NOT the prettiest bike on the street. Don't care, it's one of the most reliable. Sure we all joke about our 70's or 70's guzzi that looses parts on every trip.... but we still RIDE IT HOME!!!! Can't beat that. Favorite Guzzi T-Shirt.... "Going Out Of Business Since 1923"...
For a lot of people it's "all about the ride." Not me. I like destinations. I like riding a motorcycle for the bike. Yeah, I'll ride anything. Given a choice of riding a bike or other vehicle I'll choose the bike, but I'm not usually going anywhere in anything unless I have a reason to go there. Sorry, I know that goes against the grain, but in 30+ years since I got on my first bike I can count on one hand the number of times I "just went for a ride." I love the feel of solid engineering. While Lisa likes to drive the Expedition cause she's high up, comfy, and safe, I drive a '99 Cougar cause it's close to the ground and handles like a sports car. I chose the V92C over the TC because the V92C IS a more solid (some people call it stiff) ride. I don't like riding most Harleys because they "glide" over the road rather than feeling the road.
Speaking of gliding... that was a point I noted and was going to be a deal breaker on the Vision. It is a VERY smooth ride, but it doesn't act like a boat going over waves when you hit a bump. You feel the road and the bumps, but I'm guessing due to the weight, they don't jostle the bike. Kind of the best of both worlds.
So speaking of bikes... does anyone remember Bultaco??? |

Posts: 904 29 Palms California | very refreshing. Most of my HD buddies joke about me being a trader. It's a 50/50 on the hate or like the looks. Since, I have to show them via internet ( NO DELIVERY YET) I have a feeling when I pull into the parking lot on my Midnight Cherry Tour, their minds will change. I get more feed back and response from my Victory dealer than i have ever had at the 'other" place. I thought I smelled bad or something, because every HD shop i've been in, seems like they have better things to do that answer questions from me or the man that live in my head. I agree the front looks overwhelming, then again, it's a great place to put a OHIO STATE BUCKEYES logo. The great white shark was a good analogy. What's the recommended octane for fuel? I have read that it makes little difference, since most have reg at 87 and supreme is 93. (average) I always put the highest into the eglide until i read about octane. I tried the lower, got a bit of a ping, so i went mid grade. fuel economy is better, power seems better and cost is lower. Any input? |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | I have been putting 91 or 93, I forget. The book calls for 91 or 93. Which ever one cost the MOST FRIEKING *#($(&%(%)#*&^%$&&(*#$&$)*)(* MONEY. I was gonna wait for a few more miles and start trying lower grades and see what happens. I currently have been getting around 50 mpg, running approximately 55 on average just from my feel. The computer say something like 38 mph avg. I do a lot of highway and then just a little in town. I know the stop and go kills the average speed. We will see when I start going lower in octane. |

Posts: 904 29 Palms California | its a scam. whats a few octanes? i read in a cruising mag. that it really makes no difference. put what you want in, and see what you like. i prefered the mid grade. it might be psychologically what i need, but from 85 to 87 isn't much, but the price sure is. i guess the lower the grade, the quicker and hotter the flash point of combustion. i always thought that vice-versa. i'll believe the expert because i choose to and im cheap. i take it the oil is easy to change out? |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | I pretty much agree, with you on the octane thing, I will start using the mid grade and see how it performs adn keep moving toward the cheaper fuels. If no knock or ping, keep on going. I am surprised to see a sticker right in front of the seat that says to use only leaded fuel. I didn't know they still sell leaded fuel.
Yes, the oil is the easiest to change. I wouldn't recommend taking it to anyone, unless you are tool operator challenged. The oil plug is right behind the kick stand on the low side. Pull the plug runs right into the pan without going or running onto any other part of your bike. The filter is further behind that and you unscrew it and the same deal no mess to clean up. Doesn't even need to be chrome, you can't even see it until you get down and look for it. |

The one or two point difference in the different levels of octane are pretty much just a brand thing for bragging rights and marketing. Most vehicles call for regular octane levels (83-85 octane depending on brand). Contrary to popular belief, Premium/Super/whatever unleaded gas does not give you more power or fuel economy, but the opposite is true if you use low grade stuff in a vehicle that calls for higher octane.
The higher the grade of octane the fewer "high ends" it has, making it harder to combust. Think of high octane fuel as being more dense and harder to ignite. You want to use high octane in an engine that has a high compression ratio (e.g., 11:1) due to either design or build up of deposits in the combustion chamber. If you have an older car that is spark knocking, try going to mid-grade or premium and see if it clears up. If your owners manual says to use high octane (91+) then use it, it's design intent. If you don't have either situation then you are wasting your money on premium fuel.
Can you believe I actually had a two day class on this stuff?? Mind-numbing... |

Posts: 904 29 Palms California | wow, that was awe inspiring. However, "recommended" instead of 91 OCT only, would give me the impression that the manufacturer recommends you spend the extra 20 cents a gal. Thanks for clearing up the compression ratio. That confused the heck out of me with out an explination. You would think the opposite. Hey, I wasn't a smart alec ! I didn't think i had it in me. O.K. the challenge stands, what is the difference in 87 vice 91? How much "top end", or compression ratio really factors into 4 points? Also, how badly does "Octane Booster" effect the engine? If I was to buy a quart of octane booster, do the math and add the mixture, could I go with 83? Just curious, and I'm cheap, dude. |
