Posts: 1340 Gainesville Fl Home of the Gators | Just read the entire service bulletin, and this should be quick, and easy. Vic is sending a digital dial indicator with a hard mount fixture. If the engine fails the test the solution is super simple. Remove the primary, and add a diamond coated thrust space between the crank, and flywheel. This will properly space the crank, and thrust service. The whole thing should take a couple of hours, and includes oil, and all pre Loctite coated bolts. |

The thrust surface in the primary case was not cut properly, and there is a CHANCE the flywheel could rub the case. The shim goes between the flywheel, and crank; to space the flywheel out a few thousands. The same exact type of shimming can be found in auto manufactures forever. I set up end play for the crank with shims on my air cooled VWs, and they have been doing that since the 30's |

Ohhh, I gotcha - I thought the diamond coated spacer was intended to grind and self-clearance, like a diamond-coated sharpening stone. So it's really just diamond coated so it will be really hard and permanent - I get it. That sounds a lot better than what my mind had. |
