, WI | On 4/17/14 I rode fom the Milwaukee area to Colorado and back until I hit the 1600+ mile point. 1606.9 miles in 23 hours and 49 minutes (receipt time). A very COLD but dry ride. My longest "day ride".

| Good for you. It just feels good doing a long day in the saddle. Back in '06 I rode from RI to CA in 3 days. Wouldn't do it again but it's off my bucket list.

That's impressive for sure or should I say insane? What's even more impressive is your rolling speed average was 74mph, which is phenomenal! If you average 220miles/tank, you must have filled up 7 times, which would make your average fuel stop about 16 minutes? That's enough to tank up, do your business, and scarf down some trail mix/peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and gatorade/water and back on the ol gal with the stock seat to boot. Something to be proud of for sure.
My personal best is 1000 miles in 16 hours and 54 minutes with an average rolling speed of around 58mph calculating the pit stops into the mix, which I was able to keep to around 15 minutes. I guess I have something to strive toward, but I don't think I could crank out the additional 600 miles with the stock seat because of the ars situation. From my standpoint, the killer is staying in the seat until the next scheduled fuel stop and staying well hydrated.
I pride myself to be rock solid on those 700 miles days consistently for a number of days, but 1600 miles under 24 hours is too hard core for me. I think Forrest Gump said it best or in this case "I just felt like Rollin and I was Rollin for a long time Jenny?" I guess your screen name says it all. |

Northeast Ohio | Congrats, Steve! Is this your first BunBurner Gold? The BunBurner Gold is on my bucket list of things to do. I was going to go for it with Hoagy's Heroes in Texas last year (higher speed limit in TX), but the timing with work and everything else, it just didn't work out. For now, I'll just have to be happy with my Saddlesore 1000.

I tried to reach the 1600 mile point on my second BBG but I lost to much time with weather and traffic issues and completed that ride with only 6 minutes to spare! |

I had completed 5 IBA rides within the past 12 months but only one was rated Gold so I needed one more Gold rated ride to apply for the IBA Mile Eater Silver certificate.
So I planned another BBG1500. It was colder than I thought it would be!
This ride started in southeastern Wisconsin on 4/17/2014 at 8:03 am. It was 44 degrees. The highest temp I had seen that day was 55 in western Nebraska.
I rode west to Julesburg, Co arriving there at 8:23 pm (central time); I bought gas, a jacket pin and took a picture of the Vision at the "Welcome to Colorado" sign.
The sun set while I was in Colorado and the temps dropped quickly as I started heading east on the return trip. At 2:00 am it was 31, by 6:00 am it was 29 degrees!
In Lincoln, NE, I-80 was closed and I had to take a long slow detour, this added time and an extra gas stop would be needed to prove the extra miles ridden.
I arrived at my planned last stop in Hillsdale, IL at 6:52 am but I still had an hour and 11 minutes of ride time left so I decided to try reaching the 1600+ mile point.
It was an exciting finish as I rode into the gas station in Rochelle, IL with only 11 minutes to spare, the gas receipt showed 7:52 am. The GPS mileage was 1606.9 miles!
It had warmed up to 41 degrees at the finish. It was a COLD ride but there had been no rain (or snow). I found two witnesses to sign my IBA form and then rode another 100+ miles to get back home.
The stats -
Total trip time based on receipts - 23 hours and 49 minutes.
GPS mileage - 1606.9 miles.
Odometer - 1601.5 miles.
Moving average speed - 74 mph.
Overall average speed - 68 mph.
Moving time - 21 hours, 44 minutes

Perry Hall, MD | Congrats! Agreed, it is "cool". Not something I would ever consider trying (not even on a Vision).
