Other side of the world here and we need rain. In a few months things will be reversed. How many miles before the pads needed changing?

How often to change brake pads is really not an easy answer. It depends on how you ride. Do you let the engine or brake slow you down? Everyone's brake wear will be different. I have 50K on mine and they still look good. The wife only got 22K out of hers before she needed a new set on the CR. The 2nd set, her skill level and riding habits changed enough that she has over 28K on this set so far.
