Posts: 60 Bradenton, FL | I posted a few of my speaker pod pics in another thread, but here is the finished product.
First, here is a shot of what the stock dash looked like:
First issue was, the stock sounds just werent cutting it so I had to make room for some badass 6'5 marine speakers. While I was in there, I thought the dash didnt look very good. The big speaker covers were kind of plain, and the chrome center section bezel just looked like an afterthought... with no other chrome in sight, it just looked cheap and tacky. Soo, time for fabrication!
You might of saw from my first mod that the ipad mini was the first thing to go in...

Lots of test fitting and tweaking to get everything to fit right
Painting was a pain, the white on my bike was a 3 stage base/pearl/clear. TONS of coats to match up the pearl and bury it in clear. Now was my chance to get rid of that chrome bezel... lots of sanding and priming and I did it in body color as well with black surrounds. I thought it matched the look of the bike much better.
The finished product!

And finally with the ipad reinstalled...
Was a pain in the butt two-week long project combined with the audio install, but overall I was happy with how it came out. Now to put some miles on this baby and break it in so I can start my engine mods next! And oh yeah, those JL 6'5s and subwoofers SCREAM! Bike is super loud and crystal clear... one of the best sounding systems I have ever heard on a bike. |

Making an assumption based on the pics, don't see a tour pac on this bike ? if so- did you replace those speakers as well ?
Thanks

Yes it does have a tour pack. For now, I just replaced the stock 5 1/4's with a pair of polk audio's, basically for rear fill. I do plan on taking the tour pack off in a few days for around town cruising, but while it's off I intend to make some new molds for 6'5's in it too. Been driving me crazy not being able to ride for two weeks, so that part of the project can hold for a bit |

The stock grills are like $30 for the pair if you shop around (I have my source). I don't know the time it took to make but I bet they'd be work a few hundred bucks!

That looks really good! My question is what is in the middle? It looks like a tablet but how is it mounted?
It is an ipad mini, mounted in a Lifeproof case (waterproof) and uses a Ram mount to attach it to the handlebars. It connects to the bike via a Bluetooth receiver and gives me MP3's, Pandora, Navigation, SIRI voice activated web browsing, etc. The mount is quick release so I can easily remove it and lock it in a saddlebag for security. |
