My 2008 Victory Vision aka Dreamweaver, aka Tatanka , aka The Visionquest officially turned 70,000 miles on the odometer today! Nothing but tires and oil . Original belt, battery, plugs, etc. Thank you Lord for this good fortune.

You should change your spark plugs and plug wires. I am pretty sure they are very worn.

I don't ride much either...70,000 miles as well. I did change out the plugs and belt at 55,000, new fuel pump at 65,000.

for sure plugs. You can check plug wires with a volt meter. Continuity test will tell you. You can oder colored plug wires cheaper then getting back wires.
if you clean the belt with a soap an water with brush every oil change it will last a long time. Time for air filter stock is best in dusty roads. Battery is very close to dieing on you.

2011 Vision Tour with 61,700 miles on the odometer
48 states and 1/3 of Canada including Nova Scotia's Cabot Trail
Planning on an Alaskan adventure this year.

1. Electrical wiring harness (Extended warranty covered it)
2. Front Fender (Victory gave me store credit/coupon after complaining to Victory)
3. Rear pick-up for the ABS (warranty covered it after complaining to Victory)
4. Heated seat no longer works but I'm not spending $700 to replace it (Extended warranty would NOT cover it)
5. Two sets of headlight bulbs
6. Two sets of brake pads
7. Front brake line (Extended warranty would NOT cover it)
8. Front fork fluid
9. 3 sets of spark plugs
10. 3 bolts in the trunk interior (Dealer fixed for free)
11. 2 trunk exterior light bulbs
12. 1 tail light bulb (Dealer fixed for free)
11. Fuel filler door panel
12. 2 air filters
13. Replaced brake fluid
14. 2 kickstand rubbers
15. Drive belt replaced at 50,000 miles just because I was taking a 5,000+ mile trip and didn't want any surprises

Things that may need attention this year
1. New battery (for sure will replace before trip to Alaska)
2. Clutch has been squealing now and then (I've only used Victory oil)
3. Plug wires
4. Another set of headlight bulbs (I've been averaging 22,000 miles on a set, so I'm about due again)
5. Another set of brakes (Same as headlights)

as we say in Bama, bless your heart. But this massive list did remind me that I I have replaced both marker lights on the trunk. Also should mention , I put brake pads on whenever I change a tire respectively. Oh and my gas door has one broken hinge but still opens and closes fine.

I agree on most points although I'm to busy (lazy) to clean the belt. It's doing pretty good with no attention. I will disagree on the battery. It's as solid as day one. I'm drawing extra with heated suit plus using grips and seat daily right now. I ride daily and don't use a battery tender. Frequency of riding makes all the difference. My original battery on my 99 went 92K miles.

Great info from all! Thanks

One thought on the battery life. Living in cold winter climates, if you ride all year round, the battery life will most likely be shorter. When its in the teens and twenties, my Vision definitely has to crank harder and longer.

lots of people use it , just not me. Oil and tires.
air filter and plugs every 3rd time they say to replace /service
actually I think the air filter is supposed to be every 10K so I skipped 4 or 5 services

We should set up a fund for JimTom. I hope you didn't have to resort to buying the budget beers while youre waiting on the tax return. Maybe looking through the couch in the living room may get you enough money to buy one spark plug

I use it for diagnostic purposes.

My extended warranty is now over, so I'll be doing most of my own repairs from now on.

My dealer can keep changing my oil and tires.

jimtom - 2014-01-10 1:33 PM if you want to take up an offering, take up for Bigfoot, have you seen his list?

Only 3 things upset me.

1.  The fried wiring harness that took out my heated seat and front brake line.

2.  The front fender breaking loose and jamming itself in the maw of the fairing making steering impossible.

3.  The more than 2 years it took for Victory to rectify my intermittent ABS failure.

I really don't think that there is a more capable, comfortable and enjoyable touring motorcycle made today.

I do the bulk of it also myself with the exception of replacing the tires, especially the rear! I go through the bike to make sure nothing has rattled loose and lube the cables with every oil change trying to follow the owners manual as close as possible. Five bucks to replace the plugs, which can be purchased at any Napa in addition to oil filter. I try to stay away from the motorcycle places with their 30-40% markup. I'll be honest, I'm a little hard on the ol gal and am a little heavy-handed. Maybe a false sense of reassurance on my part.

Congrats jimtom i bought my vision on 7/16/12 had 30,000 miles and hit a patch of ice then recover when back tire started to grip the road agin an then headed for the wall and pedestrian railing then front tire got stuck in a narrow gutter till i meet the wall and railing the whole front of the bike exploded like a bomb pieces flying every where i didn't go down. walk away with a ding on my elbow and knee. Had to convince the ems that i was alright. Because Jesus is my savior and God is my rear guard he saved my bacon once again. Waiting to get an estimate for the damage dealer though it might be total out.
