Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | I got a chance to talk to the Victory dealer today and I found out that you can purchase the extended warranty as long as you do it before the factory warranty is up! This was great news for me considering my warranty expires in about 2 months or less. Cost is $1050 for 4 more years. Which I think is pretty good considering. I was going to put a few grand down on a new Vision mainly to get one under warranty again (just move all my add on parts over). But this could save me a good chunk of change.
So for you long time Vision owners what do you think? So far the bike has been really reliable the only issue is an intermittent ABS light and the fuel gauge is a touch flakey at times. Other than that regular maintenance is all she's needed.
I love the Vision and really have no desire to get rid of it but getting that huge repair bill always sucks when something unexpected happens.
So what are your thoughts? |

Glendale, AZ United States | I say you purchase the warranty, but read the fine print in detail of exactly what is/isn't covered. Most shops now charge about 100 bucks/hour for labor so it seems to me to be a good deal as well. Is it for unlimited mileage or did they give you a cap of some kind? |

Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | Gotta get more details but I am under the impression it's the same extended warranty they offer when you purchase the bike and those I think cover everything like the factory does. But I do need to get more details on that. I don't believe there is a mileage cap either. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | a lot of opinion on this subject. I went the deep dive and got the 4 year warranty about on the last day of my factory warranty. In essence it paid for itself. It was handy, I had the cash to pay for the warranty, but was short when I was able to use the warranty, so this was "money in the bank" for me. I think I broke even, so all is well. |

People only get excited about the quality and duration of warranties when they have warranty claims. No way would I own another HD without a warranty because I know how often I had to use mine. So far, with 7 months behind me, I have exactly zero claims on my Vic warranty. That makes the Vic warranty less valuable to me because I really have not needed it. |

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | why is your extended warranty so much money!! i bought a 4yr warranty for $495.00. I bought the X-warranty on both my vision's .. when i had my 2008 vision i had the green (N) light burn out. I thought it was a bulb... nope... it was a LED in a sealed unit.. well when it came time to have my state inspection, i was told the green (N) must work if it came on the bike.. so i priced the sealed unit... $900.00 !!! that was without labor. so i went to see if i could use my extended warranty on this, and my dealer said they HAVE TO cover it because it is required to pass inspection.. well they were right.. my on the 08 i think that warranty was $450. so my $450 warranty covered my $900 part plus labor.... on my 11 vision i used the factory warranty 2 times with in one year... day one, turn signal relay and 2 days before it expired for speaker failure.. but you also need to know just like someone else said.. you have to READ the fine print.. i found out the hard way, they do not cover rotors.. my rear rotor failed.. (the floating part) i drove at that time 50+ miles each way, only to be told over the phone by the warranty company rotors are not covered. so i asked to see a copy of the warranty since i drove that far.. and yep.. there it was clear as day.. if i would have opened my eyes and read the fine print i would have saved myself a 100 mile drive.. |

Yep, take the time to read the fine print of exactly what is and isn't covered. Afterall, you are dealing with an insurance company who's sole interest is to make money off our arses. Peace. |

Posts: 494 Akron Ohio area | sonicbluerider - 2014-01-07 4:13 PM Wow mine was 600.00 and they only cover motor, Drive train, fuel pump no plastic SCREAM is completely stock except the heel shifter. My 2011 Vision came with a 1+2 warranty. 1 year factory, 2 additional years of a limited warranty. The "limited warranty" will also cover a fried electrical harness and the labor to replace it, but won't cover the items that the cooked wiring harness damaged. The wires got so hot that they melted my front brake line and fried the heating elements in the seat. The warranty people (Polaristar or something close to that) said they don't cover anything made of plastic or normal wear and tear items, so the plastic front brake line and the fried seat (normal wear and tear?) weren't covered and I had pay for the replacements. I noticed that the OP has done some modifications to his bike that might make the extended warranty people balk at covering his motor/drivetrain. |

Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | This is true but all the changes were done via the dealer and installed with factory parts. So the Filter is Victory and the S1 Tune is also purchased from Victory so it's under warranty.
this is a tough one. The price item I'll need to ask around. I know the warranty is only $450 at the time of purchase up until the first 30 days. The later in the game you wait the more expensive it is, hence the $1000. So if you buy on the last day your gonna pay, if you buy up front you'll get a discount. if you buy after it's like $2000 after the factory warranty expires.
Tough choice to make it's really like buying insurance you kinda take a gamble if you don't have it. All though those new Indians are looking pretty damn good lol... |

Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | I usually pass on extended warranties, if I can't break something within the standard 1 year of coverage I'm OK. I have purchased 3 new Victorys over the years & they came with extended warranties as part of the package-My 1999 V92C came with 1+3 years & I was glad to have it as I had the transmission replaced at the end of the warranty period. My 2003 TCD came with 1+2 years-never needed it, bike was rock solid. My 2009 Vision Tour Premium came with 1+4 and is still in force-I had a radio & headlight module replaced in the first year of factory coverage and it's been a dependable bike. The extended warranty is definitely a selling point but not something I'd be willing to pay for. |

I did not need mine the first year. My warranty claims were on the extended warranty.
Same here - Front Fork Seals.
I rarely opt for extended warranties, but got it free as bike was a new 2009 purchased in May 2010. Mine seems to be identical to the first year factory warranty, but from what I have read (and experienced) it seems like your dealer has more to do with warranty claims than the 'fine print'.
I'm glad I have it. That warranty, along with free towing from Victory Roadside Assistance gives me a lot of piece of mind.

To answer your question, I would say it comes down to the number of miles you plan to ride each year. 6-8k I would skip the warranty. 10k+ and I would get it.

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | i know this is common sense.. but i have to say it anyways.. IF you do get the extended warranty... you MUST follow the recommended service interval according to the owners manual... AND... have receipts proving it.. keep the receipts yourself. do NOT except your dealer to keep record of this all if they do the work.. because... if they go out of business. you will have no one to have your back.... you are allowed by law to do maintenance yourself, like oil changes.. but you Must keep the receipt for the oil and the filter and on the receipt write down the date and the mileage to which it was changed.. i have heard more than a few times where polaris OR the warranty company asked for receipts from a customer that owned one of this side by side machines and the customer could Not prove they did the maintenance themselves.... honestly i dont think thats too much to ask for from a warranty company... all they are asking is.. PROVE you took care of it.. |

North Billerica, MA | I purchased a used Vision in December 2013.
My 2012 came with the extended warranty good until August 2017.
I had to register it with Polaris and pay a $25- transfer fee.
Supposedly, should anything need warranty coverage, I would pay $50- deductible and Polaris would take care of the rest. Has anyone had a chance to use this extended coverage? I'd be interested to hear of your experience. |

| I bought a leftover 08 vision in march of 09 with the 5yr warranty included from Mom's in foxboro, they have replaced the headlight assembly, the fork bushings and seals at no charge, that was around 40,000 mi. the rear shock was leaking, the speedo cluster green N lite burned out and the throttle body was leaking they replaced it all under the extended warranty it cost me the $50 deductible the warranty expires 3/14 it saved me a lot of money this last repair was in 10/13 the vision has 86,000 mi .Mom's in foxboro is a great dealership ,I plan on running the Vision but if I bought another bike...it would be a Vision... and would definetly buy the extended warranty... |
