I don't know how many miles you have on the bike but. I changed mine at a dealer with 44K miles. The oil was still clean and didn't smell. Mechanic said I was the 1st bike he had done this to. That being said, he told me to come back in another 50K miles or if a seal is leaking.

I am at 20k, and I figured it was time. With my bike being almost 5 years old it is another reason. Dwight

The service manual says change it I think at 15k. I did mine at that time and I'll do it again at 30K which is about 4k from now. That's going to be a big service for me. Fork oil, oil change, tires, spark plugs and a nice run through. But the VV is worth it, not much else in the way of maintenance which is really nice.

I have an 08. I change mine every 2 years and it is a noticble improvement. After 2 years it is completely black. I use the Honda 10 wt. (Yes, the victory oil came out black also). Victory uses a 7.5 wt but the 10 wt firms it up just a little and gives a better ride. After doing it several times, I can do it in a couple hours.

I just changed mine,it's an 08 with 27000 miles the oil was clear and clean but I did find my left fork was starting to leak...I did not take apart the cartridge from the spring as I didn't have or know where to get a spring compressor to undo the Nut under the top cap. I don't know as I right now if it's all good or not as I haven't riden the bike due to the weather in my area. Also I could not measure the height of the oil in the tube but I did measure the amount of oil that I put back in...330ml ea. I hope it's all good but I'm not afraid to do it all over again and I can take the forks to our local dealer they're 35 miles away and have them do it the way the book says. I used Motul full Synthetic 7.5w/ $14.99....also the bushings looked good so I only replaced the oil seals and dust cap seals and I found all of the stuff online total cost was less then $100. If you've never done this job I
highly recommend using the service manual so at least you have some insite of how to disassemble the forks.

Johnny the forks in the videos are the Kingpin/Hammer inverted forks.....not even close to the Vision forks. There are plenty a videos on how the change out the seals/bushing and oil in all kinds of motorcycles just none that represent the Vision forks and the 08's and the early 09's are different then the later 09's and so on.

Well I ridden my bike around 200 miles since the fork oil change and seals replacments and all seem to be good, it seem to be a little stiffer in the front and I like it, so all is well with my first fork oil chane out.

Stiffer could translate that you have too much oil in the forks.

The fork oil will only go bad if your in a high condensation climate. So you could go to 50 thousand with out any problem. The only thing that can go bad is seals and the bushing at the bottom of the tube.
Victory has there head up there you know what telling us to change belts pulley fork oil and other things when there not worn out.
Replacing fuel filter should be done but maybe not as soon as Vic says
Gates makes are belts and h-d's and Vic's I had a 09 RG with a hundred and ten thousand on it and it was the original belt. Yes I was to replace it at 25 thousand but never did.

The 09 Vision has two different forks for that year on the bike. You need to check which forks you have and I recommend that you utilize the victory fork oil, which will differ depending on the forks you got. I recommend, as mentioned, you change this every 30K. No need to do this any more frequently. If you plan on doing this yourself and you know what you are doing plan on at least 4-5 hours. Or, like a few folks have done, run the bike until you have a leak irregardless of miles and then take it in for the fork service, since the bulk of this is labor cost. I haven't priced out new seals, but I'm sure it's not crazy, but I may be wrong.

The front tire and brake caliper will need to be removed for starters. It's a tight squeeze to get the bolts out of there and slide the fork out. One bottle of fork oil will do you for both forks. I changed mine at 16K and frankly didn't notice any difference in the handling. Save your money or if you decide to take it in schedule this service when getting a new tire/brake pads replaced since they will be in that general area of the bike. Hope this helps you out.
