seattle, wa | I changed my plugs today just for peace of mind. I have 10k miles on these. The rear plug is wet with oil near the base, as if there is oil blow by the threads of the plug. As long as these plugs are, that's a lot of thread for the oil to seep by. Could it be a porous head near the plug?
What say you?

| How tight was the plug. If the plug is not tight enough it will not crush the sealing washer.
look at out side of boot was it wet with oil? If not then the rocker box is not leaking.
Look in owners book it will tell you torque spec guess it was not tight
Plugs look awfully black like way rich. What are you getting for mileage and what have you done to the bike |

seattle, wa | I bet you are right, the plug wasn't correctly torqued down.
My mileage is right around 40 MPG and the mods I have are...
VFC
Lloydz top air filter
Lloydz IAV valve
Lloydz cams
Last time I messed with the settings I was trying to get it to run richer to get rid of the popping.

I would, but the used plugs have been put in the trash after I finished the service. Up in Prescott a few weeks back. Chilly and raining, but fun.

Can't judge a plug without knowing what was happening prior to it being pulled. Simple cold start will make a plug look like crap in seconds |

Central Maryland | I do not believe in "plug chops". You can most certainly pull a plug and wipe the loose residue from it at any operation of the engine; and still read the resultant overall condition of the A/F mixture. |

Not convinced it is oil, or at least from inside the cyl. Looking at the stain on the porcelain, and noting the lack of color on the threads. It appears that something may have puddled in the plug well from the outside
