Posts: 1365 Central Maryland | As far as rusting through? probably not very long; from what I am seeing on the ends of my S1L2's.... surface rust looks like it is already forming between the baffle end piece and the inside of the outer chrome shell. And I put them on only several months ago.
Reminiscent of Triumph Motorcycle chrome pieces.... |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I'd say around 50,000-75,000. I guess it would also depend on the weather too. The stock rust bad. I did paint my first set after the original and that seemed to help some. They were slightly used when I got them. I replaced the first set, which had rusted badly around 45,000. Come to think of it, I've got 100,000 currently on this set, but I know they've been ready for replacing. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | put a good coat of engine paint on them because they rust from the outside in. I need to put another good coat on them to take them a few more miles. |

Posts: 1066 Peru, IN | Surface rust started on mine after a thousand miles or so. Once I get my 2nd set of mufflers welded up, I'll put them on and sand the rust off the original set and repaint them. I guess too many rocks and road debris hits it. Lots of low mileage replacements out there in case yours actually rust all the way through. |
