| I'm experiencing a pinging sound (dealer test rode and said it is spark plug knock due to some bad gas) and it only occurs when I'm in 4th, 5th, or 6th gear and I aggressively "climb on the throttle". The rpm is normally around 2800 when I do this. Since having the dealer test ride the bike I have probably done somewhere around 1500 miles and always use premium gas on fill-ups yet the pinging is still there, just not as bad as it first was. Any ides on what other problems there could be and what can be done to fix? |

| The only thing done was a stage 1. Hoping to add Power Commander soon. |

Being you are having some pinging going on at this stage of the game you may have some bad heads (one or both) on your bike....A PCV with auto tune can help fix your problem and anything to come later in the game of more prefomance. |

Stage 1 and no 2nd filiter or performance front filter? Just curios, excessively soot pipes? Don't rule out a VFCIII, I understand the gains on a PCV but am here to tell you unless your heading to Dyno and doing cams soon that VFC is a great affordable do it now mod. Plug and play in your garage. If your doing any of this you want to upgrade the air filter(s), I would do that first it it were me. Will it solve your prob? Not exactly sure but stage 1 adding more gas and am told minor advance on timing (will know tues if this is true) but same low flow of O2.

Posts: 466 Grand Cane, LA | Has it recently started due to the warmer weather? You might try using a cooler range plug. Try a 7 instead of the 6. Also try running some upper cylinder cleaner like Sea Foam or Marvel Mystery oil to help remove any possible carbon build up you might have. If you are lugging the bike a lot you will get lots of carbon build up and not know it. |

| Can't say for sure if it started with warmer weather. The noise is almost gone now but still can hear a very slight ping/crackling sound when the bike is accelerated hard from the mid rpm range. The pipes do seem to have a fair amount of carbon buildup but I'm not experienced enough to know if this is a normal looking amount of buildup or not. Tim, I am certainly going to look into the VFC mod as well. |

| what are you getting for millage?
your stage 1 down load might not be loaded right.
even check battery cables with a wrench to see if there tight. silly buy check them.
have your dealer hook it up and stand there and see what they find.
with meter check plug wires for residence |
