I put mine on the 2nd notch on the sears motorcycle jack. To pull the swing arm push rod bolt and the axle the wheel is on the ground where there is no stress, then raise it to pull the wheel out.

Taking 'em off is pretty easy, I usually go about a foot. The trick to putting them back on easily is to have a second small scissor jack to support & lift the rear wheel into position so you can slip the axle through.

I do have a jack, just don't want to get it apart and not be high enough to get the wheel out. It seems from these answers that it doesn't need to be very high

I hung mine from my engine hoist about a foot give or take, losen the lower shock bolt and take it out which helps. the tire and wheel will pretty much fall out one the axel bolt is removed. i set the new tire in my floor jack to help hold it in to position when i had to allign every thing back up

Once I am set up with the right tools and jack, I can have the old one off, max 10 minutes using a impact wrench.

On the re-install, I push a 18"x 1/2" extension in from the right side after getting everything lined up. Then take a rubber mallet and tap it out with the axle. Piece of cake.

It's much better with the bags off. You can get at the lug bolts much easier!
