I would like to install the passenger backrest and would like to know best way to cut the trunk panel to accomodate the Vic backrest.  Dremel? Hacksaw? etc.

old used hacksaw blade. Nothing with hight rpm I'm thinking. I'm even thinking a wood burning hobby tool.
Lots of tape.
Am thinking of this dash trim that H-D sell its thin and slotted might give a nice finched edge. This is what it looks like I'm thinking dealer can be cheaper then ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/47-67-Knucklehead-Panhead-Shovelhead-DASH-P...

I used a band saw with a fine blade, after laying out the exact lines on masking tape. I sanded the edge with a small block of wood using 400 grit.

I used a coping saw with a stiff blade. As long as you take it slow, you'll do just fine. The rubber grommets will hide a good bit so it doesn't have to be perfectly smooth.

Ditto with the coping saw, just take your time and don't rush.

I just put the template on and ran the Dremel on the lines. Don't over think it.

Huh?! As far as I know the factory backrest is bike specific, how would Harley have the rubber trim pieces?
