Posts: 143 Lexington Park, MD | Well, here is a lesson learned for me. Quick background is my other bike is an 04 TC with the V92 Stage 1 flash, level 1 exhaust, Ness big sucker and thats it. SomeGun runs like a screamin banshee on the war path (I never heard nor seen one but guessing it is fast)... So, picked up a steal of a buy last fall my 11 Vision, close out new off the floor. Was not happy with the the response in comparison to my V92. So my mods started:
Lloydz 2nd filter
Cheap mods on Exhaust (the 6 hole one)
Much better, compared to stock side by side seen imediate results and loved the new rumble, response of the throttle. I was happy.. (for now).... Knowing CAMS are the answer to my lack of response I was expecting from the 106 I said to myself I would upgrade CAMS, Fuel Controller, and ATS +4 next year when I saved the money up. I was already doing mods to lighting and of course the shield.
4 weeks ago a buddy on the forums here was upgrading his FC and sold me his VFCIII so of course I ordered Lloydz ATS and said this will hold me over till next year. So the VFC cam in first (thanks Mike) and I decided to try it using Mikes settings BEFORE installing the ATS just to see what happens... Keep in mind the VFCIII itself is 265.00. Installation was easier than I thought using notes already on the forum. My only deviation was using a 10" flat tip screwdriver to raise the red tabs unlocking the injector connector and a 2nd 10" on the back of it to keep it from moving. Worked very well, no pliers needed and my sausge fingers could do the rest.
All I can say at this point is I took it out, warmed up, and turned on to a straight away on the back roads. 1-4 gears came and went like I never imagined!!!!! The motor had a differnt sound all together I thought and my gosh did it sound healthy!!!!! So, 2 days riding like that, hammering the throttle and she took every thing I threw... I figured I would have a ticket by weeks end, THEN the ATS gear came in.
Rolled up in the garage after work and 90 minutes later out for the next test ride... The ATS absolutely does what it claims and lower end was there but my thoughts are this. When I wanted power before it was a slower roll on into the powerband and she did her thing. With the VFC alone, coupled with the 2nd filter and exhaust mod, you CANT stop smiling at 2800 to the higher RPMS... That engine just lets it rip!!!! Im extatic with the ATS/VFCIII combo but for those on a budget and wanting some more umph out of your motor, I honestly think you can get you a VFCIII and be pretty happy with it if you don't want to spring for the ATS at the same time. (package deal with the gasket is around 450 with shipping).
So now, Im posting this as my lesson learned, I would have been VERY happy the past 9K had I put that VFCIII on then vs waiting till now. Yes, I know when CAMS come, the PCV is going on and I will pass the VFC onto another rider. For now, I have to brush my teeth more often cause I can't stop grinning on the VV every day... If your curious about MPG, about the norm 42ish give or take based on my behaving myself. first two weeks was like 32mpg but it was 32mpg of a lot of fun!!!!
Go Lloydz!!!!!!

| How hard was it to set the trim points? The ATS was that easy to put in and you did retune the VFCIII after you put in the gear right? |

It was as easy as described here on the site in another thread for installing the ATS, I used the settings provided by Lloyd after emailing him my current configuratoion. The same settings was on the VFC prior to installing the ATS and it seemed to be a little rich on the low end but that could have been tweeked. The settings on it were provided by Lloyd and work great, I may actuall add a bump on the low end fuel now but im hesitant to mess with something that is working this good! |

My only issue w/ performance upgrades is that too soon afterwards, you find the increased performance "normal", lol.
Since cams, filters, PCV etc, I can't recall how my bike ran before these mods. I know immediately after the upgrades, it was like you said, very fun. Now I'm wondering what's next!?

Kevinx - Only because Lloydz recommended it when I asked about the VFCIII settings but noted I was planning cams at some point sooner than later. Other than removing the rev limiter, the VFC has the manamgment needed Im taking it? If thats the case, Cams just got closer in the budget as I don't see hitting 6K that often nor needing to top out 4th.... Point of this thread was spending money wisely on most bang for your buck mods so this is good news. |

I have the same set up except L1 exhaust. Just wondering what settings you are at.
Rylan pre set mine for me. He also had the ATS at +4 and ready to go when I received it.
The settings were.
2_3_3.5_0_1.5_1.5
I ended up real close to that. The plugs have nice color. Mileage is 39-41. Runs smooth and has good power, no pops or pinging.
Setting is at;
3_3.5_3.5_0_2_2
Thanks

Sorry I took a bit longer. I lost the email. I think I'm doing good with these. Nothing major to complain on a decel pop, 42-44 mpg and no ping on 91 octane. Lloydz 2nd filter, ATS, modded baffles drilled exterior holex6, and the vfc3

Check to see if when you turn the throttle that the front throttle baffle turns just a little bit before the rear baffle start to move. Play in the links! |
