I know this issue was mentioned elsewhere, but I have yet to hear of a fix.

How many others have occasional problems with the Radio ( I also have the Victory XM module also ) cutting out and just "buzzing" at higher volume levels, unless the GPS is turned off?

Anyone come up with a solution?

Yes,

Remove the GPS and XM module and all related harnesses etc.

Send everything to Okie and I'll run it through test phases for a couple years and provide you w/ a full report.

Um, sure.... packaging it all up now... should I keep paying for the XM subscription too? lol

Likewise on the VITO encounter!

BTW, got my "Ebay brand" LEDs installed on the front. Didn't use load equalizers, but it works most of the time (once in a while, I get a fast blink on my dash indicator, and the far right bulb doesn't return to white after the amber shuts off). Also, I think these LEDs have a bit more blue color to them than yours do.

I'm awaiting the rear LEDs ( 120 SMD ) from China. I did order a couple of the 50watt 6ohm resistors just in case. Couldn't pass on the price.... all 6 for $44, shipped.

Yup same problem with my 660. Took it to dealer today and left it with them. Very annoying. Started happening after they did a flash update for radio, no problem before.

Hey Turk

I don't have XM but I have never had an issue with 665 GPS and the radio. Whether its on, off etc. I've done everything from riding around town, medium to long trips (2 to 3 hours up to 5+.

I have the Victory XM module along with the Zumo 665 GPS. I actually carry the music subcription on the Victory XM (which allows me to use the factory buttons and also enjoy stereo XM music) and only traffic and weather subscriptions on the Zumo (which gives me graphic overlays and auto-reroutes for either bad traffic or bad weather conditions). I feed the 665 stereo output, along with my prioritized Radar Detector mono output, into a Mix-It2 audio mixer/amplifier and then tie the Mix-It2 output, via a three resistor passive stereo to mono mixer circuit, to the mono GPS input of the bike's factory wiring. I am able to listen to XM radio and get interrupted for GPS direction turns; radar detection alerts override all else. I've never had any issues with the radio cutting out or buzzing at higher volume levels.

Interesting. I separate my XM subscriptions exactly as you do, however, my Garmin is plugged directly into the bike's harness connector, with the minor circuit board adaptation that was described about a year ago on this forum somewhere. Maybe I should look into the the Mix-It2 device that you have.

Question: Where did you mount each of your XM antennas ?

My main desire for the Mix-It2 was because of its ability to provide me with a priority radar detector signal override of all other audio sources.

Features of the Mix-It2 (www.mixitproducts.com): 2 stereo input jacks, 2 isolated mono inputs jacks which do NOT require special cables (for use with Garmin GPS, Escort radar detectors, CB radios, etc.), Priority over-ride on one mono jack mutes the other three inputs when a signal is present then fades the others back in, Filtered external power jack eliminates ignition noise, Internal amplifier provides 25dB gain (17.8x!) with very little white noise, Adjustable output volume knob.

My XM antenna for the Zumo is located on the right side of the dash, my XM antenna for the Victory XM module is located on the just right of center of the dash, my GPS antenna for the STiR-Plus is located just left of center of the dash, my toll tag sticker is attached to the windshield on the left side of the dash, my Doran TPMS monitor is on the left side of the dash. My CB antenna is on the left side of my trunk, and my AM/FM firestick antenna is on the right side of my trunk. My Zumo is mounted in the center of my console, my LCD-200 display showing AFR readouts from each cylinder is mounted on my right handlebar, and I have chrome Kruzer Kaddies mounted on both handlebars.

So as not to confuse others whom are reading this thread... For my 2008, the factory GPS connection into the bike's harness is mono input (supports the Garmin StreetPilot series). For your 2011, the factory GPS connection into the bike's harness is stereo input (supports the Garmin Zumo series). In order to properly connect a stereo output to a mono input, I had to make a passive stereo to mono mixer circuit (tie L- and R- to mono-, tie one end of three 10K ohm resistors to mono+, connect the other end of a resistor to L+, R+, or mono-).

All I know is that the built in XM radio module sounds much better than the Garmin ever did. I thought it was because either the Garmin output mono, or the bike only input mono thru that connector.

Radio interrupt (FM & XM) while 660 Garmin is on can be fixed by resetting the Garmin unit. 1.) While turning on the GPS place another finger in lower right hand corner and apply pressure . 2.) A dialog box will come up waring you that all stored info will be lost. I did not lose info stored on my SD card. all routes and tracking were deleted. 3.) Reset the GPS. I have been now riding for three days with out a problem, before the GPS would interrupt the radio constantly. Hope this helps.

I should have been more clear: While turning on the GPS place a finger on the touch screen in lower right hand corner. After boot up is complete and you see the dialog box asking you if you want a reset then remove your finger from screen.

I performed the reset last night. Fired the bike up this morning to ride to work..... and just got the "hum" from the radio.... so the reset did not work for me. Didn't need the gps on for the 3 mile ride to work, so of course, after turning it off, the radio comes to life. It is definitely a conflict of some kind with the GPS. Turning it off or removing it from the cradle brings the radio back.
