I know there is a post showing a garage door opener mounted in the right console compartment. I am doing a slight variation. I will post pix when done. I'm taking a smaller footprint opener and removing the 1 by 1.5". I've lied the soft buttons to the pcb. Next I am trimming gown the original case which I am reusing for a cover. One that is done I will use Velcro to mount it. He final results' goal is a very small unobtrusive/stealth

Hey Johnnyvision...interesting solution!

Here are a couple of pictures...one showing the top cover with buttons using a quarter for scale and the second is a side shot also using a quarter.

I took one of my transmitters apart, soldered a couple of wires to the hot and ground traces on the PCB, wrapped that in some electrical tape, and stashed it under the center access panel in front of the seat. Then, I installed a momentary switch in the 4th blank spot on my console, and ran the wires up to it.

I just push that button on the console to open and close the garage. Pretty simple. Only real expense is the switch. I got the actual Victory PTT switch, but any appropriate sized momentary rocker switch will work.

Sweet and great idea! What did u use to drop the voltage down from 12 to 3v? Do u have a part number for the Vic switch

The way Turk did his is the same way I had it on my Kawasaki Meanstreak. You're using the same battery in the controller just bypassig the switch function on the opener itself.

I didn't wire it to the bike's power... it still uses it's little watch battery on the PCB. The only wires are the two that run to the momentary switch. No part number, but it's the PTT switch from Victory's intercom system. But, you can find momentary switches for a lot less... I just didn't care for some of the auto parts store version.... and sizing is difficult. Just google them.

Yup.. Did the same , works great. The only cost is the switch.

I did what Turk did on my old Nomad (with a Harley fairing). Simple to do. I still have the wires on my spare garage door opener but I haven't found a switch I like yet so I haven't done the deal. The Vic PTT switch is like $45. It would look just right but I'm NOT paying $45 for a switch unless it's wrapped in panda.

Here is a pic of the one I had on the Meanstreak. The push button came from Radio Shack. The garage door opener is Velcro-ed inside the cover.

You can find momentary switches online and at auto parts stores that will fit for around $5. One online company, and I'm sorry, but I forget which one now, had them all broken out by size, color, lighted, etc....

Just measure the opening in the dash panel, and match that up with the switch. It's a standard size.

Right or left?

I put mine in the glove box (left):

But I have since moved it to under the dashboard.

Used same concept as Turk but mounted switch on left side of bike (photos in my gallery). Works great with about 30 minutes and a $5 investment.

After modifying the original cover and mounting the pcb to it, I applied velcro (type used on toll transmitters, outstanding strenght, uses plastic on both sides) I mounted it underneath the left tank cover. Since the controllers opens 2 independent doors to my garage I decided this is the best way for me to go. The buttons are totally concealed and easy access. Unfortunately I can't take pictures but I could draw something up if anyone is interested.

My 636 had a built-in lap timer, so it had a momentary contact button on the left cluster to push for each lap. I wired my opener to that. I've since decided that sometimes simpler is better - I just clip this to the key of whichever bike I'm riding that day...

I decided not to go that route because I didn't want the opener marring the paint while riding.

Nothing wrong with that. Hell, there's nothing wrong with installing one just because it's neat. That's why I did my Ninja.

You can avoid marring the paint by covering the paint with 3M DiNoc textured vinyl tape. I did mine in black carbon fiber.

Here's what I did with mine.

Sorrry can't figger out how to get the pics to upload..
I just connected a momentary button to an extra opener I had. Installed the button between the bun warmer switches, and velcro'd the opener to the bottom of the seat.
