Has anyone had the Autolumination Switchbacks fail?
I installed the front clear lenses turn signal lenses and the 120 AO bulbs. I followed Nozzledogs thread. Install was simple. His instructions were very clear and precise and everything worked properly. To be clear the problem is not the advice or the quality of the work done, it is the product Autolumination is producing, these bulbs are not cheap. There is only 1300 or so miles on the bike since the installation of these bulbs.
Yesterday I took a ride to Hannibal Mo. On the way back I noticed the top left bulb was out. When I got home I pulled the bulb and found that the contact pins in the base of the bulb had come loose and two fell out on the floor when I was looking the bulb over.
Checked the other bulbs and they appear ok for now. I have requested Autolumination to warranty their defective bulb. Will let you know where that goes. Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with their products?

Not yet but I only have 800 miles or so since converting.

I did order a pair of the bulbs from AliExpress. Took a couple weeks to get them but I honestly can't tell a difference from the AutoIllumination bulbs and I paid $18 for a pair. Figured they'd make a good backup. I agree these things are kind of pricey.

Keep us posted on their response. Thanks

Thanks I think I will get a pair for spares. Don't like being out without all the lights I can being lit. Will let everyone know what the out come with Autolumination is. I have sent them an E-Mail, and will follow up with a phone call tomorrow.

I have ordered others thru ebay companies and they fell apart from the vibrations very quickly. I have 10k miles on the Autoluminations now. One bulb has had 3 of the 120 LEDs stop working. Autolumination would not warranty it, but did offer me a new one 1/2 price.

Thanks for the info. I am going to try. This bulb fell apart. I am going to have to replace it. Half price is better than nothing. 10,000 miles wouldn't be too bad, but was hoping for 30,000.
BTW your tech articles are easy to understand and very helpful to us that are new to VIC.

Has anyone had the Autolumination Switchbacks fail?

I have the switchbacks in front and reds in the back. The only problem I have had with anything from Autolimination was 1 bulb blew but I think my brake strob took it out as it went at the same time. Other than that over 4000 on their bulbs/LED's and no problems.

Which bulbs did you put in the rear? Anyone use LED's with Gary's sequencing harness? Did you have to use resistors to slow the flash rate down?

Thanks.

I used 2 differnt types. The Wide angle 120s on the lower brake and TRIED the Wide angle 68's on the middle and TS. Do not like the 68s as much as the 120s and only a 5.00 diff on price. The 68s have a nice pattern like the 120s but the Wide Angle 120w flat blow them away! I did add the load resitor on each turn, no issues. I also had some complications getting the 68s to work in the middle set of brakes (which is where i had my brake flasher wired in when it blew and took a 68 with it) so I had finally revereted to the 3157's in the middle brake light until I can buy 2 more 120s. Currently no load resistor on the brake and cruise works fine. Will update my thread I started on this when I get a new set of 120s for the middle brake. Have not messed with the eagle eyes nor the new 50w eagle eyes. At 39.99 that could be a bit pricey for an experiment..

Well, here is the story. My first E-mail was answered with we have no record of your purchase. I presented them with credit card statement. It turned out I gave them the wrong statement and date. I had purchased two 194 bulbs on that card. Yep I felt stupid! However they still had no record of my switchback purchase. I then provided them with the correct statement and date. Ok now we would like to see pictures. Hurry and wait! (that would be me of course) E-mailed back to see if they got them. Got a response; Yes I did. They are out of warranty. I am sorry. The best we can do is sell you one for half price!
This may sound familiar to one of you maybe more.
Well being kinda stuck I went for it. The new bulb should be on the way.
I have a friend that is an electrical engineer and degreed techno nerd and proud of it. I have enlisted his help in locating a better bulb. If something is found I will test and post. Time will tell.

I do hope no one else has problems.
