Has anyone got an opinion on the level 1 stage 2 exhaust. i am trying to decide if i want them or the Alen Ness honkers. my main need is power and reduction of exhaust heat from the leg area at speed, its hot in calif and ariz where i ride... i dont really want overly loud pipes i already have a road king w/ vance hines six shooters that are loud. also what about the second air filter will that make alot more power and where do you buy that part. also the bike sounds loke the exhaust is comming from the engine copartment not the back tail pipe especially at rpms of 2700-3000 under or over that it sounds better or at least different. any suggestions would be appreciated. tnx, tom

I'm kind of new to this as well and just sold a loud Harley. I decided to go with the Arlen Ness big Honkers. I heard a bike with stage 1 level 1 and that would not do it for me. I will have my pipes on by the end of the week as they should be in tomorrow I was told. I'm also having Lloyz tune my bike and add his oil filter and VFC controller. In talking to him he said he would be taking 20-30 degrees off my engine running temp. It seams all Victories run on the lean side and I would agree. With his controller he can leave low RPM lean and at higher RPM run it a little richer. I may loose a little fuel econemy but for a cooler running motor I'll make that swap. I think a cooler running motor will pay off in the long run. Good luck Rick

I had the Stage 1 Level 2 exhaust installed before my bike left the dealer.

It is working out very well for me in that: 1) The Vision does not sound like a sewing machine and 2) If I am moderate to light on the throttle in the mornings I will not wake nor anger my neighbors.

I have noticed the occasional pop from the exhaust. FYI, It does not occur every time i ride.

I regret that I lack the equipment to do a quality job on the recording. The S1 L2 from Victory is not very loud but has a deeper sound then the S1 L1 pipes. I am not worried about getting a ticket for noise. If you want a popping sound like V and H Big shots or Rienharts these are not the pipes for you.

Every HD owner I have traveled with has been louder then my Vision with S1 L2.

I agree with radioteacher's accessment of the exhaust note of the Stage 1 level 2 pipes. I just had mine installed on July 15, 2008 and I didn't really notice any significant increase in the volume and/or signature as compared to the standard oem pipes. When I took my test ride the bike had the S1L1 with gatlin tips which had a louder pitch but no low rumble from the drivers perspective. The S1L2 will not knock your socks off or give you that low Harley like deep rumble when you twist the throttle.

Remember guys adding exhaust to your bike is like buying your wife a boobjob, you don't go from AAA to B you move up to C or D. The Big Honkers have the right sound and you won't be buying any more boobjobs.

My brother installed a Reinhart exhaust system on his 2008 HD Ultra Electra Glide. With even a light twist of the throttle his bike is so loud that it offends all non-riders, makes children cry and neuters any animal within 10 yards. I think he is compensating for something. I am not sure what.

The S1, L2 pipes are perfect for me. My Vision sounds like a V Twin motorcycle, no one will ever say that I was sneaking up on them and I can leave in the morning for work without waking everyone up in my subdivision. I think I will keep my S1 L2 pipes.

I am proud to know and work with all of my neighbors and could not have picked better people to live near.

ruttrow,

You will not get the sound from the video of the Street Glide from any Victory exhaust system for the Vision. Check out the Arlen Ness Big Honkers and the Cycle dragon pipes.

Good luck on your quest for your Vision exhaust.

Thanks Radio, I was not overly impressed from the sound of the big honkers. Dealer had them on his demo. I'll keep looking.

The Cycle Dragon pipes can be tuned by adding or removing packing, they have a nice rumble to them that easily sets off car alarms.
