Posts: 691 Manchester, CT | Fellow Riders,
I've been working on some of the slow maneuver techniques found on the RLAP DVD. I've decided to take it to the next step in that I registered to take the course in NJ on May 19th! I'm not sure if there will be any video opportunities (or if they are even permitted). I will post a briefing on how it went along with any recommendations. |

Posts: 691 Manchester, CT | yeah johnnyvision...I'm also taking a state offered experienced rider's course this Saturday. It allows you to have someone to ride shotgun. Both courses, depending on your insurance, offers a 10% discount.
I have Progressive and I need to find out from my Agent if they will give me a discount. |

Posts: 329 scotts valley, California | I took the RLAP course in '09 at L.A. I used one of the lighter police bikes they had available because I did not want to scratch up my Vision. But the course instructor, Mark, rode my Vision around the course successfully, but said the front wheel brake being plumbed in with the rear wheel made it feel kind of funny. For what ever that's worth... 50k miles later, I still do not use their slip clutching, brake dragging method with the Vision.
Now that my Vision has a couple of scratches on it, I wish I had used it for the course. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the course.

Posts: 691 Manchester, CT | Jerry P addresses the linked brake systems in his latest RLaP DVD. He states that proper use of the rear break as instructed (minimual pressure) it doesn't impact the technique. In the new DVD they demonstrate the techniques using visions xcs. |

You just have to use the rear brake more and keep the clutch further out and the rpms up a little more than on other bikes. Have tried it a couple of times in slow rolling parades and parking lots with success. |

Posts: 691 Manchester, CT | Hey atvtinker....you are spot on. Jerry P's recommendation on the DVD is to keep the revs around 1500. I find that with the vision, you need to keep the revs at 2000. |

For me the key is really concentrating on the head/eye movement. The bike will absolutely go where are head and eyes are turned/looking. |
