Georgia, west of Atlanta | After some searching I found these cams specs for Victory 106 engines. The symbol * denotes degrees. This is for Victory stock cams, S&S 495 and two Andrews cams that I didn't know existed. Can't find any info on Lloyds cams except that the new VM-1 HP cam is required to use high lift valve springs that have maximum valve lift capability of .520 lift. The standard VM-1 cams do not require the use of high lift valve springs.

In comparison 2 valve engines such as Harley that operates in the same rpm range as Victory engines need way more lift and duration to achieve flow numbers comparable to these cams.
Sorry that the website compressed the numbers. They read in order lift, opens, closes and duration.

Georgia, west of Atlanta | Don't get me wrong on this point, I love my VM-1 cams from Lloyds Performance. They provides excellent performance across the entire rev range with no spring spacing or headwork. But I'm waiting on the day when RedShift, Woods Performance and/or T-Man Performance starts grinding cams for Victory engines. Competition makes prices cheaper and goods better in most cases...........Probably can't hold my breath that long though.

Georgia, west of Atlanta | Found these specs on another site: Not 100% sure thay are correct.
VM-1 .412 lift
Vm-1 HP .484 lift
No specs for duration.
Absolutely amazing that a lift as small as .412 makes the power that the VM-1 makes. Lloyd really did his homework on these cams. Harleys don't get that kind of performance with cams as high as .600 lift.

New Orleans, La, | It's not a mystery why Vic motors respond so well to cams with way less lift than Harleys. First of all lift by itself means nothing and is not as important as alot of other components related to designing a good cam. 4 valve heads have more intake surface area than a 2 valve head and at the same lift will flow more volume. Inversely the 2 vavle head needs more lift to achieve the same flow rate as the 4 valve head needs at a much lower lift. But to really get a good picture of the difference/ advantages of cams you need to consider all the aspects of the cams and the engines they will be used in. Just saying. |
