My 2011 Vision has given me plenty of grief with it's ABS system malfunctioning ever since around 10,000 miles.

It's been in the shop several times and hooked up to the computer but no fix to be found as of yet.

The latest weird thing about it is that I can get it to reset if I first warm up the bike for 10 or more miles, shut it off, restart it in the upright position, and then red line it in first gear and quickly shifting into second gear.

The ABS light goes off right when I make the shift to second and then it will stay off until I have to restart it again.

Anyone have any idea as to why this is happening?

I have a 5,000 mile trip coming up in 3 weeks and I'd really like to get this squared away before I leave.

One of your sensor pickups is bad. Been there done that. Easy fix.

Pick up is not related to engine speed or gear selected, it is made using a toothed wheel on the wheel being measured. It may be that the wheel speed just happens to match the red line in first. If you go that same speed in third, I am betting it will also reset. I have no idea why you should need to go that fast to reset the ABS. It is designed to reset at less than 6 MPH.

Without using the Red Line speed shift to second gear, I could ride all day, day after day, without the ABS functioning. (light stays on all the time)

I had gone thousands of miles this Spring with the darn light on all the time and just by pure luck I stumbled on this weird way to get it to reset.

I wish that was true.

My mechanic has had my bike hooked up to the diagnostic computer program several times and even spoke with "someone" at Victory about this trying to trouble shoot the problem.

Over the years, I found that sometimes when I would back the bike up the ABS would fault and not reset until I stopped the bike, turned it off and then restarted it and headed off in a forward direction.

Another way for it to go into a fault mode was when I was riding in heavy rain.  (Just when I need it to function properly, it wouldn't)

Usually it would not reset until the bike had dried out for hours or days.

The ABS system does work when the light is off (reset) and doesn't work when the ABS light is on.

I'm to the point now where I want the entire system replaced while it's still under my extended warranty.

I would prefer that Victory honor this claim under the original 1 year manufacturers warranty as I was complaining about this well within my first year of ownership and had filed an incident report through my dealership with Victory.

What you describe is EXACTLY how mine behaved! All the diagnostic codes pointed to the main unit.... but it was the rear sensor!

I convinced the mechanic that it was far easier and cheaper to just replace one or both sensors first. We did the rear, and bam, that was it! It's been great ever since. I'm really not sure why you are so hesitant to try the simplest fix first. You seem bound and determined to not even try. Even if you have to do it yourself, it's a $60 part, and doesn't take much skill or time. One bolt at the wheel, a clip or two, and disconnect the connector.

I'm telling you that the ABS diagnostic codes did not zero in on the sensor when I had mine checked, and rechecked, and checked again. But I always try the simplest route first, and that fixed it, and the dealer was accommodating, and ordered a sensor in to try.

For $60 I'll give it a try.

Is the front sensor identical (part number the same) as the rear sensor?

To my memory, yes, same part # I think the hardest part about the rear was reaching the connector. I don't remember if we got to it from underneath the bike, or from the top (under the seat). Small hands and / or good long longnose pliers are called for.
