Posts: 79 Louisville, KY | The questions I pose to you knowledgeable seasoned Vision riders is this, should I buy a new vision or a 2009 with 7000 miles on it?
The 09 has at least the stage two pipes and maybe more done to it. What are the differences between the 09 and the 12 models?
I currently ride a Kawasaki VN2000 that has 77,000 miles on it and it's been a great bike but it's in need of rings and other work right now. I figure this might be the time to move into something more comfortable for long rides.
Thanks in advance guys,
Chuck |

Will make answering a little easier, there have been some changes pro/con from an 09 to newer versions, each can be debated.

They are asking 13,000 for the 09.
Private sale or thru a dealer ?
Generally speaking, that is not a bad price, but would like more info on the bike, is is a street version ( no trunk), tour or premium (upgraded chrome)-
Also, do you plan on making lots of changes to any "new" bike to get it how you want or will you just ride it-helps to start from a clean sheet of paper.

Posts: 79 Louisville, KY | Its through a dealer I'm sure I can probably get the price down a little more. It has the tour pack not sure the exact model though. I live in kentucky and the dealer is in ohio I will be there tuesday morning.
I'm not real big on lots of extra chrome and I like to do my own work on the bikes. I did cams and heads and cruise control on my VN2000 myself plus lots of other mods.
I'm looking for more comfort but I still like decent performance.

Posts: 309 Vineland, NJ United States | I have an 08 with about 21,000 miles and it looks as good as when I bought it new and it runs great. As long as it was garaged and maintained, I'd save the bucks and get the 2009. With the extra money you can add Lloyd's cams, intake plate and fuel controller (makes a big difference).

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | I'll have to go along with the others. I would get the '09 for $13000 or less and use the difference in price for upgrades or gas and motels. 7000 miles on one of these things is just getting started.
If it is a Premium model (will have chrome handlebars, shifter, brake lever, floorboards, front tipover protectors, control cubes, etc, plus an HID driving light) you'll save a bunch of money compared to adding that stuff to a later model. The factory HID light isn't even available on the newer models. It was a $500 option when it was available. The chrome bits that were standard on the Premium models would have cost over $2000 to add to a standard Vision Tour. The Premium models were a bargain compared to the later models that made much of that stuff optional.

Posts: 499 Chattanooga, TN | I have an 08 and it is the same as an 09. I don't think there were any changes between model years. 2010 saw a few changes, but nothing too major. Little things have changed to cut manufacturing costs like the new ones don't have the air shock in the saddle bag doors. The major change to consider besides ABS brakes which are now standard, is the engine now goes twice as far between oil changes and the transmission now has helical cut gears. They started doing this in 2010 and it does shift smoother and run quieter from what I have heard. But all in all I love my 08 and won't even think about upgrading until I get over 100k on the odo! |

Posts: 1308 Sand Rock, AL United States | I have an 08 with almost 50K on it, Varyder has one bumping 137,000. It's still new at 7000. I think you can do only slightly better on price if at all. Get the 09 definately. |

| I have an 09 with 68,000. It is a great bike. I have an 04 kingpin with 150,000+ omit and it still runs like a champ. Victory builds a good motor and I think an 09 low miles for $13Gs is a decent deal.. |

Posts: 30 Scottsdale | I went with the 13. Only a couple of used in my area and not the color I wanted, all out of warranty so I won't new. 7k is like new for an 09. Either way you can't go wrong |

Posts: 494 Akron Ohio area | ABS, 5,000 mile oil changes, new gear box, better radio reception, different handlebars starting with the 2011 models.
Try and find a 2011 Vision Tour as they still had the HID headlights and the chrome front tip-overs among other chrome pieces.
I have a 2011 silver/black Vision Tour. |

Posts: 154 Cabot Arkansas | An 09 is almost 5 years old now probably has no warranty, so I think they are least a $1000 too high( if it's a premium tour) compared to what they bring down here. But my 09 was beat on rode hard and put up wet all the time and it never missed a lick. They are great bikes.
