Posts: 1066 Peru, IN | I'm looking for a trunk close out panel (the panel that mounts above the tail lights when you take the trunk off or on a Street model). I can find them (brand new) all day long in black for just under $100. I can't find them for that price for my Bronze Mist 2012. I stopped by the dealer today and he claims he can get one in Bronze Mist for just under $150.
Is $150 a good deal for one already painted in Bronze Mist or would it be cheaper to buy the $100 part in black and have someone paint it the correct color? I look on eBay and Craigslist daily as well as the ads here and on V-R and the VMC. I've rarely seen any close out panel and have never seen one in Bronze Mist.
I like the trunk but I'd like to ride a bit without the trunk and see what it's like. I like the looks of the Vision (both with and without the trunk). I can't stand an unfinished look on anything.
What do you guys (and gals?) think? |

| I personally like the trunk on..I did not when I first decided to buy a Vision and almost bought the Vision 8-ball...I never ride two up anymore, but still like the trunk on the bike, both for storage and for looks...PS, I am not willing to pay $150 for a painted piece of plastic, so I will leave mine alone even though it is black and silver...JMHO |

your bike is new with new paint it was never made as a street model.
So buy what you can and have it painted. Ask painter witch of the two colors you have that he can match |

Posts: 1066 Peru, IN | It would probably need to be the Bronze Mist as that's what the rest of the back of the bike is. The Sandstone Metallic is the secondary color. I wonder how shitty it would look with a black panel? |

Posts: 1066 Peru, IN | Good idea but I'd have to call all 200 dealers just to see if they have one. I'm not sure it's worth hours and hours on the phone just to save $50. I might give it an hour on Wednesday (next day off). The 2012 Bronze Mist wasn't a very popular color. |

They never made a pearl white model in the street either. No problem getting a color matched one. No dealer will have one in stock but they can order one and have it pretty fast. |

Posts: 1066 Peru, IN | There's a part number for the close out panel in Bronze Mist so it's available. It's just not available now nor is it $99 like the 4 Street colors. Not really sure why but it is what it is.
I may call a few of the larger dealers next week and see if they happen to have one in stock and/or what their best price is on one.
Probably easier (and cheaper) to have one painted in white than Bronze Mist. |

Posts: 1066 Peru, IN | I can't remember. I saw a few but I can't find the site now and the piece of paper I'd written the info on is gone. If I find it, I'll post it. |
