Hello, my name is Jim.

I have been riding Goldwing for near 30 years. I recently (finally) bought my first Victory , a 2008 Vision that is the exact bike I looked at in 2008 before my wife and I sold our 85 wing and upgraded into the 08 Wing. I also own a 07 Electraglide classic. Well spoiled man that I am I have had the opportunity to run all three of these bikes and as of today, the Wing is being traded as a down payment on a 2011 Crossbow and the Harley is being sold. That will leave me with a 2 wheel and a three wheel Vision (Still holding on to my 1998 Valkyrie because I just LOVE that bike to much to sell it.

Today is the day, the day I sign on here and proudly proclaim, I AM A VICTORY RIDER TILL THE DAY I DIE!

Jim

Welcome Jim!

You aren't the first former Goldwing or Harley rider to make the move to Victory. Lots of us here, and lots of us have fond memories of our former rides. Most of us aren't going back.

You might want to update your profile so we know where you are and what you ride. It will help us answer any questions you may have about your bikes, and it might result in some new riding buddies. There are Victory oriented gatherings all over the country that you might want to participate in. The American Victory Rally is scheduled for August 16, and 17 near the factory in Spirit Lake, Iowa. There are regional meets all over the country too.

Pictures please.

Ronnie

Ha!! Careful Jim. It's a trap.

We do discuss them in great detail, especially when the weather isn't conducive to riding. Opinions are in good supply.

Glad to see you here Jim. So far I am just looking at a V Vision. I am presently still riding my HD Road Glide Ultra but very interested in a Vision.

Welcome bub. I dunno what I can say about owning a vision. A humbled spoiled comes to mind. You can nod along still with your wing and harley buddies but we all know the truth.....

Thank you all for welcoming me here. I am OK with the trap, like to preach Amsoil myself. Use it where I work in the trucks and love it. Have used it in ALL my bikes for a long time, never had a problem and I am grateful for that.

Now Amsoil is listing the 20-50 and the 10-40 for the bike. Any thoughts on that?

The 10W-40 is the right weight for a Victory engine from what I have read.

I'm running 20w-50 synthetic, most V-twins run that grade.

I've used both in Victorys for about 12 years now. The 10W-40 is the correct one for your late model bike. Actually there are two, the 10W-40MCF and the 10W-40AMO. Either of those will work. I've always used the 10W-40AMO (a little cheaper than the "motorcycle" oil). I use the 20W-50 in my 2000 model, but not the 20W-50MCV (for Harley), which is NOT recommended for Victory (read the applications sheet) and some people have had clutch slippage on it. I have used the 20W-50ARO for a long time with no problems. 5000 mile oil changes on both, which is double the interval on the Victory oil.

I've been involved with heavy trucks for a long time and I remember when the fleet managers first started to switch to synthetic lubricants and doubled the service intervals. Lots of people thought they were nuts. It was a hard sell. Now of course, the new trucks come with synthetic from the factory. It's long been proven in the trucking industry that the synthetic lubes don't break down as fast as the regular lubes, or even the blended lubes do.
