it was a beautiful day here in sc. t-shirt weather. rode 'vicky' 290 mi. I got to admit, I was a bit out of shape. I was exhausted when I got home. I met up with a man riding a decked out goldwing trike. He was 88 years young. I asked him how many miles per tank he gets. He replied, about 200, if I keep it under 90 mph. lol.

Cripes Dan. 290 mi is just getting warmed up - gotta do that by noon if you're LAZY.

(but I got to admit - 500 mile rides at this time of year in the winter/west/mountains give my muscles a workout ... )

Luckily - I seldom go more than 2-3 weeks without that kind of workout in the winter. Soon - it will be 2-3 times a week .... and I'm '69 in May.

290 miles is a nice ride, riding isn't an endurance test. I occasionally ride with a weekend group. We ride 300-500 miles a day, we're not in any hurry and we enjoy the scenery along the way.

donetracey.... you must not work a full tme job. unless I take a vacation day, sat. is about the only time i get for a decent ride. I like to do more, this was just a 7 hr ride. I prefer secondary rds. and twisties. the ride is the desination.....

Any ride of 400 to 500 miles is a good day for me at 65 years young. I can ride that day after day in decent weather but in t-shirt weather I would be tempted to ride further. I only got in about 15 miles today running errands but the high here today was only about 37F, not exactly great riding weather.

Glad you were able to get out and ride, Banjodan. This time of year people have full-fledged cabin fever, and the only cure is wind in your face!

At 50 years OLD I too Love the day after day of 600+ mile, 10-12hr days.
But I also Love the 300 mile day trip, full of twisties, cigar stops, little hikes, lunch break.
And cant leave out the everyday 11 mile ride to/from work.

Basically, and time in the saddle is time well spent.

the Mrs. and I did 250 miles last Saturday with the local GW group. We are the token v-twin of the group Nice ride, Sierra nevada foothills, some superslab. good combo. you want to talk about inspiration? there is an older couple in the group on a 2 wheel GW, she gets around with a walker. walks slow, kind of a shuffle. we were in the parking lot and I see them come out of the restaurant where we had breakfast. she pushes her walker up to a GW. and gets on! the husband straps the walker to the GW trunk and off they go!
