Oh I plan on it! Just feeling out to see how the overall vibe was!

Fountain Inn, SC United States | The vibe is fine. HD riders (and Sturgis in general) have mellowed over the years. Even Jap bikes are accepted in most parts. Many HD riders are accepting of Victory bikes (some even envious). They all have heard how dependable and fast Victorys are. Have a great time, just bring lots of cash!
Prices of everyday things are much higher that week. There are many ATMs that dispense only $50 bills and then charge you $10 for the convenience! |

| No one will ever give you a second look. Plenty of vision there and every think you can think of. You don't say where you live so no one can ride with you.
Go to the victory tent say hi to Arlen Ness he rides his vision from Ca.
If you don't have a room you'll be camping for sure. Please don't sleep in get out an ride there are so many beautiful roads that you will not see all I'm sure |

| Sturgis was the first place I took my Vision. Nobody will look twice. I have been going there for almost 3 decades riding Harleys, Buells, Customs, Hyabusa, ST1300, Aprillia, B-King, BMWs, etc. and all are accepted. Just ride it there! |

It's not like you're riding your Vision to an outlaw clubhouse. There are people from everywhere on anything you can think of and some things you never thought of. I have been 4 times , first time on my Vision last year. The Vision is imho, the best platform from which to take in the countrside of the area or any area for that matter. |

Yes you are right about being the best platform: When I left Sturgis I rode another 5000+ miles on my 3 week bike trip last summer......7150 total miles..... |

I did something similar! I went another 4000+ after sturgis for a total of about 5800 miles but I had to do it all in 6 days (I only spent one night in Sturgis) because I was out of vacation days at work but it was so amazing. I would love to have 3 weeks! Maybe one day at retirement, Lord willing.

| My question is where did you get the idea Victory or any other brands are not treated kindly? The internet? Been taking my Victory to Sturgis since 2000. Most years I ride.
Do you honestly believe someone riding a Victory will be treated badly. It would be the person being a jerk rather than the brand bike. Let's see, the president of the Hell's Angels owns and rides a Vision do you think someone is going to torch his ride?
You have a better chance at being arrested or ticketed then being harassed about what your ride except from the trailer queens. |

I'll go there. Why would you trailer a Vision? Its 1000 miles to Sturgis from Vegas. You could do that in a day and qualify for a Iron Butt award or a day and a half if you want to take it easy. It will take a day to drive there in a truck anyway. I would rather spend a couple extra days on the road even if I had to cut them off my time in Sturgis. IMO trailers are great for choppers and non-touring bikes but I can't believe the number of electra-glides and street glides being towed. Certainly not a Vision. If your ol lady won't ride out have her fly and pick her up in Rapid City. To each thier own, you will have fun either way but will kick yourself for being a wussy.
JUST RIDE! |

His ride.
It might be foolish to ask but why is he bringing a car to a bike rally? He must be part of the circus. To each their own. Since he has to drive out anyway you should ride. Lets see travel time to the airport, get there an hour and a half early, 2 hour flight if its direct but 3+ if its not then rent a car or have someone pick you up, which is their time, plus travel to the campground, with no delays That will be 7-10 hours, the better part of a day. Like I said you can ride there in a day. Just busting your balls. You will want to RIDE out next year! |

Posts: 329 scotts valley, California | For me and many, Sturgis is all about the ride. I don't take shortcuts either. Last year left Sturgis for the Canadian Rockies; the year before that Grand Isle, Nebraska; both going north or east instead of southwest. OOPS, just remembered, I guess I lied. One year Hwy I-80 was closed around Park City, Utah. The advance warning signs were pretty clear about it, but who is really going to believe that an interstate freeway is closed. Surely a motorcycle could get through. WRONG.. But there was a shortcut on a gravel road through the Guardians that kept us rolling. I just love riding.
Incidentally, there is an open lane from the Bay Area to Sturgis (beside me). I'm leaving Saturday the third if anyone wants to join me. I would leave the second except that is our anniversary and.... What the heck was I thinking getting married just before Sturgis week? |

Posts: 573 Central Illinois | Forget Sturgis during the season. I was there 2 years ago a week after the official Sturgis rally. The nearby roads were great and I thoroughly enjoyed being on them. If you head south, there are lots of great miles to enjoy. If you head north, enjoy the man-made attraction of Mount Rushmore. Sorry but I cannot become enthusiastic about a huge meet that hides the real attractions of an area. |

Denegration of a whole nation by referring them to "Japs" because a motorcycle is built there is a detriment to EVERYBODY. It makes us all look bad and racist. We all ride motorcycles. NOBODY should care whether it is a HD or it was made in Japan. They are not "Jap bikes". They are bikes made in Japan. I don't go on this site very much. Jap bike isn't racist. It is a simple reference to the bikes country of origin. Another pot stirrer making something out of nothing. Probably best that you're not coming back. Good bye. |

| Go to Sturgis, ride your bike, have fun and keep your head up high! I went last year and saw MANY broken HDs and only 1 broken Vic (clutch cable). When they give you crap just remind them that the electrical parts in thier bikes are made in Mexico. That always gets them. Here is some ride advise for Sturgis.....you MUST ride Iron Mt. road and the Needles Hwy. Trust me you will love it!! |

Posts: 58 Saratoga NY area | I went last year and am still recovering. Crazy Horse is way overrated, would not go again. Mount Rushmore is a tad overrated. You will spend about 1 hr there. Deadwood is great. The nightlife is crazy. There is a bar ( I forgot the name) out there with a big pool (which is free for everyone) you should definitely try. The only phone carriers that work out there are Verizon. All of the locals and people are friendly as heck out there. Ride to the badlands and check that out. one of the best activities is actually the Victory tent on main st. They have famous people who are super nice and some nice things to see. have fun |
