I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that the trunk should have "rubber washers" on the bottom (over the four bolts) but I can't find anything in either manual about it.

It would make sense because of the machined circle on the bottom of the trunk but I have either lost all four or I never had any...

Any thoughts?

I don't think they are needed at all..........the two metals pieces(frame backbone and the bottom of the trunk) are bolted tight together making them one unit. Rubber washers would cause problems I would think with bolts coming loose over time and miles.

I have an 08 and the tool kit came with 4 rubber plugs in it that I assumed corresponded to the 4 bolts that held the trunk on but never figured out where they "plugged" in. Thanks for the heads up though cause when I put it back on I'll look for those holes.

Sorry... What I meant to say (I really shouldn't do anything before my morning coffee) was that the service manual calls for "Foam Pads" but I don't have any. There is no reference to a part number for said pads.

I take my trunk off frequently. Never saw any foam or rubber pads.

It's good to hear that I'm not the only one who is missing the mysterious foam pads.

Since it is snowing outside and the bike is laid-up I went ahead and ordered some.

Part number 5413465. @ $0.99 ea.

I'll let you know if the ride is smoother or if I start getting better gas mileage.

Gosh... If I knew what they were supposed to look like, I could save the $.99 and make them out of some of the rubber I have laying around here... but ... apparently nobody here has ever seen one!

Well my trunk is on/off a couple of times a week, there was never any rubber washers or foam pads, just metal on metal. Any thing that squashes would allow bolts to loosen up. However Victory may have changed that after mine was built. Also they would be impossible to line up while installing the truck. I may this year finally break down and install studs which would make installations easier. My swap put time is less than 10 minutes. I have modified the cover plate so seat does not need to be removed.

Having just installed the Hitch-Doc trailer hitch, this is the first time I've had something to hold a pad in place (because I installed the bolts from underneath) but that's assuming that these pads go over the bolts. I don't even know what the foam pads look like. My only hint is the machined recess in the bottom of the trunks bolt holes. Since they don't make contact with the bikes mating surface it just kind of figures to me. Let's face it... your not going to get much from MaVic for $.99.

I am expecting it to improve the bikes looks and maybe even improve the radio reception some... I'll be sure to let you all know.

The pads (Part number 5413465) go between the black plastic piece on the front bottom of the trunk not between where it is bolted to the bike. There should be nothing between the trunk base and the frame of the bike. That is why it has the centering pads built into the bottom of the trunk and the flange head bolts that hold it securely in place

I've had my trunk on and off several times in the last four plus years I've owned the V, and don't remember any type of padding for the bolts or trunk being there.
