After spending hours searching all over town for a 3157NA bulb that would fit the front turn signal socket, I have given-up and ordered one from Victory at a list price of $12.

I can't be the first one that has run into this problem. What have others done, and please don't say you just pushed real hard and it went in. I have never posted anything on this forum so I may not get it right but I will try to post a photo of the problem.

There are small nibs of plastic on the sides of the "wedge fitting" that need to be about half the width of what is available from your local auto supply store. (please see photo)

Now I can see the obvious, just trim the nib to fit the socket (pretty easy task I believe) but I have to stop and think; was there another reason why it was made not to fit the standard bulb? Or was it just to get suckers like me to spend $9. more than they needed to?

Somebody out there in Vision land has an answer for me.

What does the NA stand for? I've always used plain 3157 bulbs and have never noticed those nubs. Now I use LED 3157s.

I think I got this figured out. NA stands for 'natural amber'. This means you have changed your lenses for the clear ones. NA bulbs fit into NA sockets. When I put clear lenses in, they came with new sockets as well. I didn't know why, and never changed them since I kept using clear bulbs, then later LEDs.
If you are still using the amber lenses, then get clear bulbs. They shouldn't have the nubs on them.

Actually, I have the Clear Lens and you are correct, NA stands for Natural Amber. As I was searching for a suitable replacement I did check the Clear 3157 and they also have the wide nib.

I had never given the Clear Lens issue any thought. Since the bike had them on it when I purchased it, I don't know if it has a different socket from the stock ones.

These bulbs that are in there had to come from somewhere... and I haven't been able to find one yet. Now I'm thinking that maybe even the Victory replacement might not fit.

This is like a bad dream that I can't wake-up from. It's just a Light Bulb!

Nope, can't backup that theory, but I can't find any bulbs with those nubs online either.

I'd shave down the "nib". The worst that can happen (assuming they're both the same wattage) is you'll blow a fuse. Fortunately, the fuse block is right there at the front turn signals anyway. :D

Personally, I prefer using 4157. They seem a tad brighter and seem to last a little longer. Either can be had at Walmart. Both have the small tab, and both fit standard Vision sockets, front and rear.
