| this vision is my first m/c with a trunk. i've noticed lots of cold air on the back of my neck and back. is this caused from the trunk? |

Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | It is caused from the fairing. When I remove my trunk there is actually a small amount more pressure at my back. This is because the air collapses behind me with no trunk. With trunk the air collapses further back behind the trunk.
I use Turtle Fur to keep the air off my neck. I use it mountain biking, dirt biking, and road biking. It does a great job keeping wind off my neck and out of my jacket. Especially in the chest area when I snug my jacket collar around it. On really cold days (sub 32F) I pull it up over my chin, lips, or even my nose sometimes. It really works.

Edmonton Alberta, Canada | I have been removing my trunk weekly as when I ride solo, ( durring week) I find less presure on my back with out it, Solo with trunk I find the trunk catches just enough air to push me on the handle bars. On thelonger runs my arms tire from pushing back. Completed a 5900 mile ride, from Edmonton to the North rim in 6 days. now I really notce the diff in handling with or with out the trunk. Maybe just me! |

Chattanooga, TN | I always felt that I got more air on my back with the trunk mounted, so I usually ride without it in the winter, plus it feels lighter like norcan said. I'm sure it could also have to do with the windshield type and position as to whether you get air on your back. Oh well, at least you're riding! |

The side wind they create gets caught by the trunk. Also, if there is a natural side wind the trunk will catch it. If no traffic and no wind then the trunk creates less wind on my back as described in my previous post. |

huntington In. | I don't notice the wind on my back, and the Big Blue Vic handles the buffeting from big trucks better than my other did |

| As said above try lowering your windshield a little...Worked great for me and problem not an issue anymore...Took me about 3 or 4 trips to find the "sweet spot" when riding the highways seems to be fine now and I still have plenty wind protection from the front...... |

How do you compensate for that?

Mt. Vernon, WASH. | With the trunk mounted, you're dragging a huge negative pressure area behind you that turbulence draws itself back to the bike down around your hips and is drawn up your back in that low pressure area, saw a video on the phenomenon a few years ago using a wind tunnel and a tufted rider and bike, fascinating the stuff air will and can do. The tip vortex on a jets wing shows the same effect that in smaller scale is boiling off your back. Watch the rear spoiler tips on an F-1 car in high humidity or rain and watch the plumes. |

Put your trunk back on and see if lowering the windscreen works. Logic says it shouldn't work but it does. |
