Yes, my Vision, the Bentley, caught fire, a small fire though.  The right heated grip wire decided to commit arson and burst into flames.  It was out as quick as it started.  I'm not one to use my heated grips much, but thought I would use them more this season.  I used them last Sunday, but the fuse kept blowing, so after twice I let it go until today, and now I know why.  I thought I was going to become the real Ghost Rider for a moment...

Thanks. The bike is good, I'm debating whether to replace them, I might just replace the right one since it's get's the twist all the time, the left should be good still. I actually laughed when I realized what happened, I smelled something burning and even looked around. I got the tiny flash out of the corner of my eye and then the light from the flame as it burned the wire in two. I was reaching for my grib switch and smacking the wire to get it to go out, it did. I had just pulled out of my work parking lot, and had done the little stretch to the light to hit the main road.

That's an interesting "wear" item on the bike

Yeah, being able to see it bend with every throttle twist since I had the bike made me think, "how long is that going to last?" Now I know...

So you are going to be able to replace the system for the right side and it should be ok, that's good. Good thing you caught it when you did.

How many smiles do you have varyder on the Bently, looks like 127,000 now. Glad this all turned out OK and now we have an idea of how long this wire will last. I agree that if it was not "twisted" it would probably never give us a problem. I do like the heated grips and seat here in WI. May still get a ride or two yet this year because of these features.

I wondered the same thing, just how long will that last. Got a ways to go now before worrying about that!

Mine went around 60k, without the fire, thank goodness! Surprisingly replaced under warranty. Glad to hear there wasn't more smoke. I've always wondered could I put snowmobile grips on them. They seem to be hotter and get through gloves and liners better.
