Posts: 23 Stony Mountain, MB Canada | I am in the process of replacing my old Tour Tech (Garmin 2720) and installing a new Garmin 660 on my 2009 Vision Tour Premium. I had the Victory mount kit and patch cable set up for the 2720, so I cut the patch cable that hooked the 2720 to the bike and spliced the + and - power cords that came with the 660 into it. I then spliced a male speaker plug onto the patch cable for the audio and that plugs right into the wiring harness supplied with the 660. In the process I found that I can hardly hear the voice commands from the 660 and after investigating futher I noticed that even when I have the stereo set on the FM radio or on my Sirius radio that is run through the auxillary port that I only have clear sound coming out of the left speakers, the right ones just have a static noise coming out of them. I am not sure if it is coincedence that both the front and rear right speakers are blown or more than likely there is a problem with my main radio unit. I changed out all 4 speakers a couple of years ago to Alpine SPS-500 speakers. I remember reading on the forums that the GPS interface is mono, not stereo so that explains why I can hardly hear the voice commands from the 660 seeing as it would only put sound to one side, I am not sure though if it was that way with the 2720 lately as I never used it this year and now that I have cut the cable for it so I have no easy way of trying it without putting the harness back together. I guess I have a couple of options, take it to the dealer and get the radio diagnosed, but I am leaving in a week on a big ride where I would like to use my new 660 or I guess I could try and junp the wires for the front left speaker over to the right speaker also and do the same for the rear speakers, I would no longer have true stereo, but on a motorcycle that doesn't really matter to me. Has anyone ran into this kind of problem before? |

| The 660 is Stereo.
I would say to remove doubt, disconnect the GPS entirely, and well as the XM radio and see what the result is.
If that doesn't work, swap speakers to make sure one isn't blow.
If you are still only getting sound out of on one speaker, it is likely the head unit. |

| The wiring on the 08 & 09 Visions are differant than the 2010 and up years.
They were wired for the 2720/2820 not the 660.
I have the 660 on my 09 and I can hear it but not nearly as well as I could hear the 2820.
The headset works better than the speakers. |

Posts: 23 Stony Mountain, MB Canada | I got the install done and got all of the speakers working, it must have been in the main harness plug that goes into the radio as they are all working now. I see what you mean by the 660 not being as loud as the 2720.
Cruzin,
Did you use the Victory harness for the 660 to hook it up (part# 2877930 for the Cross bikes) or (part# 2878028 for the Vision) or did you use the harness that came with the 660 and fit it to your 09 bike?
I am wondering if I used the Victory Cross Country harness part# 2877930 for the 660 and made it fit my 09 Vision if the sound would get louder out of the GPS? Or if the issue is that the 660 is outputting stereo and the bike is only set up to receive a mono signal? |

| I know that this is not really applicable to you, but I run my 665 through the aux input, and stream in XM radio through the 665. I have an Arc amp and Kicker speakers and I can get the thing to make my ears bleed loud.
For what it's worth I thought I would toss it out there. |

Posts: 23 Stony Mountain, MB Canada | I got a 3 wire (stereo) 3.5 mm audio plug and wired that in and the GPS is now cosiderably louder than it was, maybe not quite as good as the 2720 was for volume, but way better than it was before with the 2 wire (mono) plug, at least I can hear it now. |
