| Ok both of my mirrors have always been well, useless. The vibration in both is just ridiculous The left is completely useless while the right was manageable.
I sat down and tried the adhesive weight trick to both mirrors. I started with 2.5 oz of weight and took it for a test drive. Problem worse.
Added weight and test drove. Still worse. I'm now up to 4oz of weight on each mirror and each one shakes like it has a medical condition.
How tight should the bolts holding the mirror be? I'm worried I'm going to break plastic if I tighten them too much.

| Yeah I read that thread but it does not address my question. I did the same thing as that thread I used the weights but it did not work for me.
I need to find out if I can tighten the bolts down more without breaking anything. |

Rockford, IL | Try giving the bolt on the back of the mirror a little cinch. But not too much of a cinch because then you won't be able to adjust the mirrors much...it at all. The bolt is fairly easy to get at, so cinch and then ride and then cinch again and so on until you get rid of the vibration. I'd be fairly surprised if you could tighten it enough to crack/break anything. |

Pittsburgh, PA | I really feel it has something to do with the installation of the mirrors.. either by the dealer or factory here is why ... i recently relaced my front speaker myself, andnow i have very bad mirror vibration! But tbis wasnt the case when i bought the bike new. It was only after i messed with it did i develop this issue. Ive had no time to try and fix it yet though... |

Brighton, TN | If you tighten too much the plastic that the mirror bolt goes through will stress and crack. That piece is quite large it is the dash support and goes all the way across. |

Camas Washington | Did you make sure you put the back of the mirror panael in the slot? If not this will cause vibration. I have had mine off several times and still no vibration. Like others have said make sure the screws are tight. |

| The tech at my last dealer put four pieces of very hard foam squares, he cut from a parts box, at each corner of my mirrors between housing and mirror edges. They stick out a little, but not enough to distract anything and work great..I only get a little vibration in left mirror when hard on the throttle from a stop or at speeds above 80mph...So far, so good...... |

Rockford, IL | Got to thinking.....what if your problem isn't in the mirror itself but possibly in the dash instead?
Between speaker installations and custom painting and such I've had my mirrors in/out 5 times now and I've had vibrations but I've always simply cinch the rear bolt up a bit more and have gotten rid of the vibe.
So I'm wondering if you possibly have a loose dash or speaker grille...........maybe? |

Orlando, FL | What if you are on a V Twin motorcycle and have to suffer with some mirror vibration? Oh, the horror of it all! The agony of having to ride a freaking Vision~ Ohhhhhhhh, nooooooo! The pain, the suffering! OMG~ Vibrating mirrors~ Quick sell that puppy. Sell it NOW! LOL
Seriously tho, I doubt you will ever get rid off all the mirror vibration at all RPM's. It's a V twin and by nature is a vibrator. Hopefully you can get rid of enough to make the mirrors useful. If not........F it and ride baby~ Just ride~.

| I dis-agree with MaddMAx2u to a point...I rode a V-twin Honda VTXF1800 for 3years, sometimes at speeds way beyond sane, hard off the throttle starts and NEVER had a vibration issue with the mirrors....I quess it depends on how they are mounted and who makes them.....Many Vision riders have expressed vibration issues with mirrors so it is not uncommon...I agree, although, that most V-twins have this issue and one must learn to expect it and live with it...Never really bothered me, but my tech found a workable solution on his own and it works for me.........

Moody Alabama | After replacing the factory exhaust my mirrors where barely usable.
Removed both mirrors and put Dynamat on each. Takes a little cutting and fitting.
Problem solved.

Sulphur, La | On my new 2013 vision I found my left mirror to be unusable because of the vibration. I tried the stick on weights and they did not help. When I was taking the mirrors off again I noticed when I pushed on the hex head bolt that it moved a little. I thought it was not tight enough so I tried to tighten it up some more but the bolt wouldn't move. I took it apart and while holding the mirror in my hand I screwed the bolt in. It would not go past the end of the clip on nut. It looks like it is designed to be a lock-nut of some sorts. I ended up running a tap through it, but not all the way. I just wanted to cut the threads on the end of the nut a little deeper. Now the bolt will go completely through with a little resistance as it gets to the back side of the nut. I reinstalled the mirror using locktite on the bolts and now my mirrors are perfect. Hope this helps. |

Thanks Fraz - I haven't worked on mine yet, but this might get me out there. Instead of a tap to extend how far the bolt goes in could I get a small lock washer to take up the space?

Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | I've had my dash apart many times. My mirrors did not vibrate at first. Oned day I noticed one of them vibrating. I just let it be because of what I read on this forum. I figured I wasn't the only one having this issue. Then after I had the dash apart it stopped vibrating. Thinking back it must have started to vibrate after I had the dash apart. My conclusion in my case is: My mirrors will vibrate if the dash isn't just right.
I had the dash apart a couple of times since the vibration stopped. It hasn't returned. If/when it does, I will pull the dash and reassemble. |

I had NO complaints until I read this thread... Much like the clown face now... Can't shake it and suprised that the left is worse than the right. I guess I was immune coming off my TC with the bar vibes always passing some of this up to the mirrors. Going into the dash next week.. lol... Did want to say thanks for all the tips and previous experiences...
