Posts: 28 Southern Va./2011 Vision silver | Just got back from a 900 mile trip down to the dragon and up thru Gatlinburg.Got a little over 9 thousand on original E3 Dunlap , is that about average or should I go for a different brand like Avon . They seem to be about the same price on ebay. Ive never had an Avon but heard they are the best. |

Posts: 416 Prairie City, IA United States | I ended up with the Avon Venom. Ii had one on the old V Star 1300 and got great mileage out of it. I have about 500 miles on the Venom so far. thoughts:
Handling is a little different as low speeds. You tend to dive into a turn quicker. The tire is a bit on the noisy side running down the road. I never noticed it on the 1300 but I think the fairing tunnel might funnel more sound to the rider. It takes a little getting used to. I road last night through my favorite curves and put it through the paces. 65 mph through a 40 mph curve and it handled it just fine. It did seem that the front end required a little more pressure to hold my line.
I might go for the Avon cobra next time around.

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I had almost 16K on my E3. I replaces it with a Metezeler ME880 about 3000 miles ago. I am very happy with it. I rode in several down pours that I prob should have pulled over there was so much standing water. Very stable.
Handles very well on the dragon. Very quite also. Now I can really hear the E3 on the back howl when I lean at speed.
I have never had the cobras, but was told they wear out very quickly.

Posts: 324 New Orleans, La, | I have said it before and I'll say it again, in my experience, the Avon Cobra is the quitest running, best wet water handling tyre with milage equal to if not better thatn the E3 bar none. IMHO. |

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | I haven't tried the Avons or Metzlers, but I did go to the Bridgestones this last time around. So far, I like them better than the Dunlops. They seem to be wearing about like the Dunlops but I can't tell you the the total life yet. I changed from the Dunlops primarily because of the howling in the corners. I've got 6100 miles on the Bridgestones and they aren't howling and they appear to be about half worn. We are planning a 5000, maybe 6000 mile trip next month and I think they'll make it.

Posts: 28 Southern Va./2011 Vision silver | My front tire tread looks great in the middle ,its the sides that are almost gone. Also ,I didnt really notice the howling noise before I had 5 to 6 thousand on the tires . I cant beleive some people are getting 15 thousand out of a mc tire. |

Posts: 28 Southern Va./2011 Vision silver | Checked on the bridgestone battleax on ebay, its $106 , but its a bias ply tire. Im not too sure about going with a bias on the frt with the radial on the back. My back tire looks like its got quite a few miles left . |

| I'm replacing my E3's with Avon venoms in a couple thousand miles. I don't care for the noise E3's have after a few thousand miles. |
