Visionary
Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | OK, there are several ways to fix this. I had this idea in my head and it worked perfect. It could be prettier, but I don't have a vise or a drill press.
The little ear broke off. It's hard to make out in the photo. I cut the other one off. I found a small piece of metal. This happened to be a clip to hold a window screen in.
I made a slot in it and drilled a hole through it and what was left of the tab.
The epoxy was overkill, but it can't rotate on the screw now. I hit the nut with epoxy too so it won?t ever come off. If it ever breaks again, which I doubt, I'll just replace it with a new body panel from the dealer.
If I had tools at my disposal I would have made it so the cable went in from the side instead of the bottom. To keep it from falling out I just squeezed it together.
Not counting the bike disassembly and reassembly it only took 20 minutes.
