Wife and I are headed out Friday from CA to Rockies for a few days and then up to Calgary, over to Vancouver and back down coast to SFO.. 5000 miles in 2 weeks with some visits with family in Canada.... Sturgis is fun, but crowded and crazy and already have done that.. Must do for sure at least once... Ride Safe everyone... Represent VIC proud!!!!!

Leaving the 4th and staying at the Cottonwood Creek Campground. Just me and the usual Harley suspects... I have to see which one will break down first....

Any of you guys riding this alone? My buddy just bailed on me (his mom passed away last month and has some estate stuff to finish up). At this point, I am still planning on going. Just nervous making the 2600 miles (round trip) solo. Leaving Saturday and plan to get into Rapid City Sunday afternoon. I just did a SaddleSore last weekend in 16 hours, so I can ride the distance. Help talk me off the ledge...

The 2600 miles sounds like a nice ride. The Victory won't give you any trouble...Sturgis on the other hand....Have a good ride!

I'm headed out there with a buddy riding and two others that are trailering their HD's will be a couple hours behind us but we are leaving on Thursday morning from Conneaut, OH if you were leaving earlier you could tag along with us. I did it solo last year nothing to worry about especially on a vision I was on a kawasaki zx14 last year. I used to take 90 out but never again I took 80 all the way across Iowa last year and that is the way to go there is stuff open all night and a ton of hotels.

I'm going solo. trying for a bunburner Gold. Say a prayer for me please. I did the bunburner solo last year. It's 1500 miles to the campground in Belle Fourche from my house. I'm leaving Wednesday morning August 8th.

(I actually had to tell a guy at work last year he couldn't go, he was a very inexperienced rider, never been anywhere, I was afraid he would fall asleep , crash and his blood would be on my hands) I would definately ride with you my friend . I'm really just going for the Victory owners ride and lunch. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it last year. I'm going on the cheap too. No restaurants, no motels. I like challenges. I'm out to prove that poor people (who own motorcycles) can do this hahaha! I went last year for $466 total expense gone 6 days. I will beat that this year. I now have a bike that gets better mileage (oh wait, I have to buy hi test so that probably cancels out unless I cheat down). I also have since bought a drink bottle with a built in filter to fill up at gas station taps. My biggest expense last year was gas, next was bottled water. Still hope we get to ride some day.

If you are looking might I suggest Shaddow Mountain Campground in Piedmont... been there before,, great if you like to actually sleep at night ,, VFW feeds you breakfast and supper all you can eat at good price 1/2 mile from the camp. 12 miles from Sturgis and reasonable and very clean.

I feel compel to go this year, but it is dependant upon one thing. I find that out though until the last moment to head out the door. I'll be ready though.

I am attempting a bunburner gold ride (1500 miles in 24 hrs) I will leave Wednesday a.m. I stayed at Wyatts Hideaway Campground last year . Staying there again this year Thursday and Friday night, then head for home. I had a great experience there last yeat. I do need rest and the quiet hours are honored there.

No problem. While I thought I had it worked out to go, I'm going to target next year. I have a couple irons in the fire and can't drop them. I hope you have a great trip.
