| That's very normal. All the early bikes till 2011 had that issue. 5th is direct which is why its so quiet. There is nothing to fix. Some guys feel certain types of oil are quieter than others. You'll find it getting noisier right about the time it needs an oil change.

|
Would it be a chirp or squeak sound as you go down the road? Coming from the right side. I'll bet your belt is out of alignment.

If so take some candale wax and rub on the outer edge of the belt

the hole length and sound will go away for thousands of miles.

I had one. The high pitched gear whine drove me nuts--frazzeled my nerves.
I know, the GW devotees don't hear it.
I don't know your riding history of course, but if you're new to fully faired touring bikes you'll hear all the little noises that you never hear on unfaired bikes. The "cockpit" captures and bounces them back to you and you don't have as much wind noise drowning out the sounds.

| You fellows have been a great help and thankfull its not just me. I know its not the belt and it is a stock machine with stage 2 pipes. I really enjoy this machine its unbelievable fuel milage and range. My fellow harley riders don't want to give it back when i let them ride it. Everywhere i go i get people coming over to look and talk. By the way i owned a goldwing for less than 4 months and got rid of it, i've got short legs and a sense of style.

Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | That chirping you hear up front seems to emulate from a plastic sheathed cable running down the right side of the fairing. I'm not sure what it does but if you reach in there you feel it and it kinda flops around a little and rubs some of the metal parts causing an annoying bird like sound. One if these days I'm gonna zip tie it down so it stops annoying me LOL.
The rest of the motor is kinda noisy, fuel pump actuator, thunk into gear and the valve clatter it seems to make. All part of the experience. I noticed that the V-Twin valvoline 20-50 oil really quiets the engine clatter down pretty good. Also open the exhaust a bit and seems to drown some of that out as well |
