Posts: 16 Gledale, Az | I recently returned back to Phoenix after a two week ride to Washington, While riding on state route 20 in Whidby Ise , it was raining lightly as I rolled around a curve traveling at 40 mph ; I noticed in front of me what apeared to be a tree branch lying across the shoulder and pavement; I was riding close to the shoulder as my friend on his Road King was in front on the left side of the lane, my first thought was to steer away to the left; but quickly decided it would safer to roll over the branch, after I struck this with my front tire I went down and my left side and slid about 30 ft staying on the bike . My Vision stayed on the anti tip before finnally going down all the way as it came to a stop, I was ok aside from a skinned knee a a few minor scrapes to my left hand, when I got up I saw that what took me down was actually a piece of steel pipe. I feel very fortunate not to have ended up in the ER or worse and I know that those anti tip points which were now ground down about one inch, kept the weight of my Vision off of me while sliding on its side, so I did not get trapped against the pavement during the ordeal, left fairing cracked and broke, mostly cosmetic to the rest of the bike , I was able to ride it back home to Phoenix with no other issues. My 2008 Vision is at dealership now getting a $ 3900.00 make over. It was a scary ordeal but I love this bike , had I been on my old Road King ; it could have been a worse outcome . |

Posts: 16 Gledale, Az | Thanks , glad I have full coverage Insurance , at the time of the accident someone called 911 , state patrol showed up and gave me a citation; he said I must have been going too fast, since I had to go home in a couple days my only option was to mail a certified letter to the court in my defense, explaining all that took place; waiting for the judge to decide now |

| AZ rider - likes others have mentioned - glad you are ok. re: the citation - you might want to take a look at this website if you are thinking about challenging the citation. I have not used their services but may be worth consideration. ticketslayer.com |

| Glad you're ok, I can't believe a cop ticketed you for speeding and he wasn't there to witness it. |

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | Glad your alright and Thanks for letting us all know if we do need to put the Vision down we might get some extra protection from the tip overs. I now live in an area where I see critters from the bite size to the shoot able ones most every day headed to work. Makes even a Wildman like me think twice about my odds. I always leave the bikes in 4th gear and make a lot of noise but will note that if I need to put it down I might have more protection than most bikes........

Probably the SAME asshole that got me last year on Route 20 on my way to Whidbey - speeding - about 10mph over. I told him "Be proud of yourself! When you sit down with your wife tonight - you can tell her you gave a speeding ticket to a guy who has been riding for 50 years without EVER getting one - what a feat." ASSHOLE.
