Posts: 348 Sturbridge, Mass | Wow, just got back from 14 glorius rinig days in Alaska- rented a BMW 800GS for the trip.
2615 miles in total.
The haul road was awesome, very rideable in good weahter (which we had) I would not want to ride it in wet/snow. Some sections the road crews were working on and the best you could do was to put your feet down as outriggers and crawl forward.
Denali highway was bumpy, but driveable 50-55MPH was fine.
MacCarthy road- no desire to do that again- would fly in from Chitna. Just very, very rough and bad- I can say I did it, but no fun. 30-35MPH in 3rd gear for 2.5-3 hours in the rain.
June 18 Mon ANC to Talkeetna via Wasilla/Big Lake/Independence Mine
June 19 Tue Talkeetna to Denali Park
June 20 Wed Denali Highway-Roundtrip
June 21 Thur Denali to Fairbanks
June 22 Fri Fairbanks/Coldfoot
June 23 Sat Coldfoot/Deadhorse
June 24 Sun Deadhorse/Coldfoot
June 25 Mon Coldfoot/Fairbanks
June 26 Tue Fairbanks/Copper Center
June 27 Wed Copper Center/McCarthy
June 28 Thur McCarthy/Valdez
June 29 Fri Valdez/Girdwood via Ferry
June 30 Sat Girdwood to Home
The bike did a great job and was well suited for the task.
I would be more than happy to discuss/review the trip with anyone...
Regards,
Jeff |

Just kidding.

| Man good for you, had to be awesome. I am so jealous. I was on my way to Prudhoe when the Alcan Highway was washed out for 6 days due to a damn break, Ruined 2 years of planning and vacation time. but you glad you and Rollin made it. still licking my wounds |
