Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | Well I got my travel trunk back today and I have to say that I absolutely love the way it came out! The bike should have come like this from the factory, at least in this color scheme anyway. I had my painter paint the entire underside black to blend it better with the lines and color scheme of the bike. Before it looked like a ships bow coming at you and now it flows beautifully (IMHO).
Here are some before shots (stock)
Here are the after shots all painted up (and that ugly license plate bracket removed):
Here is a close up so you can see exactly what got painted:
What do you guys think? I can't believe what a difference something so small made... |

| I have the same bike and prefer the stock paint scheme for my tastes...The paint job looks great and as long as you are happy that is all that really counts....Ride safe..... |

Posts: 132 Durango, Colorado | Love the way it enhances the lines of the trunk! Trunk sides and saddle bag doors almost look like flower pedals at certain angles......ooohhh.....aaahhh. Nice! I have been playing with the idea of going with a WWII P51 paint scheme/replication. SSG with blue nose, ally bars and stars on the saddle bag doors, checkered trunk to replicate tail and nose art on the lower fairing of course. Still trying to lay out a design. paulhu |

| I love this paint idea. You're right, it changes the whole "whoops, I forgot a trunk, so I'll throw one up there" look. Your paint job makes it flow. I hope you won't mind if we copy your idea. I want to make that a top priority as far as accessories or modifications go. My real top priority will be to ride it, long rides, and many of them!
What did you do about the paint edge that would have been created from layers of black then clear? Also, what color black did you use? Did you have it done at a paint and body shop or your Victory dealer?

I have the same bike and like the look. How long did your painter have the bike and some idea of the cost. Also, who is your painter? |

Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | As for the painter I use a guy named Tony at Soft Touch Studios in New Port Richey. I took the trunk off and gave it to him so I didn't have to be without the bike. He took a week to paint it (dropped of saturday, picked up next saturday).
As for the edge where the black paint is it is almost imperceptible that there is an edge there, He blended it perfectly. It saves a bit of time and money not having to re-clear the entire trunk. He's really good at what he does. He charged me $150 for the work and it was worth every penny.
As for the shine, no that's not a chrome plate that is the paint your looking at, he does an amazing job. I don't know what "black" he used but he always matches things perfectly so i wouldn't worry about that. You can find him at www.softtouchstudios.com if your interested. he does tons of bike stuff, cars, you name it he paints it, stripes it, air brushes it. He is an amazingly talented gentlemen.
No problem on borrowing the idea, paint away! I'd love to see more Visions like this. For any 2 tone it should match like this from the factory. You notice the trunk doesn't look nearly as big as it really is with the paint scheme done this way, bit of an optical illusion but a very cool one. He did so well i'm almost tempted to have him paint the entire bike black (like the Vision 8 ball) and do a chrome/black Vision. I know I'm going to take the chrome bezel around the gauges and probably the silver center trim around the radio and have that done in black to match. |

What do you guys think? I can't believe what a difference something so small made... NICE! I think the black breaks the color up and makes the trunk look smaller. Bill, Do you think the painter used a semi-gloss or gloss? |

I totally agree w/ Brett, add the Vic chrome piece around the trunk lock. |

You might consider doing the bezel in 'Black Chrome' as another litle piece of eye candy for the observant ones. |

Posts: 51 Arizona | That's looks sweet! I love the way the bike flows. You are correct sir! That's the way it should have come out in the first place.
But that would take to much time and effort for Victory, and unless it's a ness model. Then they kind of stick to the Ford mentality.
Here comes the hate mail! |

Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | LOL that's true... Hmm black chrome Victory might look sweet or the chrome piece around the key could also be good... So many choices.
As for what paint he used I really don't know, it does match perfectly though! I just dropped it off and told him what I wanted and he took care of the rest.
Now for my trip to, well wherever we end up going is up today! heading out after work and hoping to ride a bunch of mountains and maybe take in some fireworks in DC! Either way don't have to be home till Sunday so we'll hit what states we hit in that time period....
