New Bohemia, VA | firelttim == So I've noticed some oil stains on my right lower fairing and also on my right boot. I took it into the local dealer and they said the front brake reservoir cover was loose. they tightened it for me.
yesterday the oil streaking is back. anyone out there had this problem before? the cover seems (hand) tight to me. I'm thinking it needs to be replaced, but maybe this is normal???

I don't know if the webmaster will move the lt's post to a forum to reply to, but I noticed and will reply here. No, it is not normal. Are you sure it is brake fluid? If it is, stop until you fix it completely. I don't know if there is any oil lines there for the cooler that is on the left side, but check around your jugs and lines for leaking. Air could be blowing it in that direction.

DeRidder, LA | I had the same symptoms and thought it was the brakes. Turns out, it was a fork seal leaking. Is the front end getting spongy when braking? |

Chattanooga, TN | Never had that happen, although I have spilled brake fluid on the paint and all I can say is get it off immediately! If it isn't corrosive to paint, then it ain't DOT 4 brake fluid. |

| Park the bike on some news pappier and pump the foot and hand break a lot. Now roll bike hit front break trying to get forks to drop.
Let it sit over night if you have to and see where what is wet.
The hose on the rear break Reeva might have a crack in it. Just keep looking you'll find it |

Layton, UT United States | I've pumped the brakes, bounced the front end up and down, wiped the forks with a clean towel looking for leaks at the seals, wiped down the components of both the foot and hand brakes on the right side, wiped the engine on the right side and nothing!!! no signs of any leaks. yet the right lower fairing, (Above the foot rest and below the lighted Victory badge) gets oil drops.
I can't figure out where this is coming from. |

| Take a flash light and look around the rocker box and in between each cylinder fins even look at the base of the cylinder.
Look at your front pipe and see if there is burnt oil on it or look at you black solenoid cover to see it there is oil there.

thanks for your help here and elsewhere too. I found I had some build up around the front cylinder exhaust connection. using a green degreaser, I cleaned it all off and rinsed it well.
I rode it for 50 miles and nothing has reappeared. the gunk was left over from the brake reservoir cap being a bit loose from the dealer.
I believe the issue has been resolved and I'm looking forward to many more miles of trouble free riding.
