Posts: 46 Taylorsville, KY | I'm considering going to the AVR this year and was curious to hear from others who have been before if it's worth the trip. The factory tour is something I am definitely interested in; but not sure what else to expect of being worthwhile there. We're looking at making a trip across the UP back to KY if we do this trip as I've heard the UP is a beautiful place . Anyone familiar with hwy2 across the UP that has recommendations for things not to miss? Thanks in advance for any feedback any of you can provide! |

Posts: 177 Fredonia, WI United States | The Iron Mine between Iron Mountain and Norway is a great place to see. The Island Resort and Casino is (I heard) a nice place too, if you are into casinos.
I hope to make it to AVR next year. Let me know how it is! |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | A Daytona or Sturgis it is not. Attendance has been growing each year with last year about 600-800 Victorys, 20 or so Vendors (most of which sold stuff for Victorys, not Harleys). This year's concert has Smashmouth headlining. Of course there's the tours of the factory and the "buff booth" where Victory painters will buff out small scratches & nicks for free (A big hit last year). It's just a great time to meet other Victory owners and see what they've done to their bikes.
Last year Vision-Riders had an impromptu gathering and talked about different mods we've done on our bikes (and had the bikes there as show & tell). It's great to hear a set of pipes or see a cool mod in person. Hope to do it again this year.

Posts: 46 Taylorsville, KY | Already been to the Sturgis rally a couple of times and it was so crowded in 2002 I decided I'll probably never go back..,..lol. The huge crowds are something I avoid more and more as I get older. |

Posts: 83 Bolivar Missouri | I went last year for the first time , most everything is free to attend and the concerts were pretty good ... Was planing on a return trip this year but due to circumstances beyond my control it will have to be another year . Expect to see a lot of corn and soybean feilds . Crowded it is not and most everyone is very freindly . If you are on a tighter budget and don't mind the 15 mile ride cheaper hotels can be found in spencer or another town i can't think the name which is also close . |

Posts: 112 Denver, Iowa | Went two years ago, skipped last year, prolly going this year. I think the AVR is promoted by the same marketing department that is in charge of Victory apparel. LOL! OK, just kidding! The factory tour was just OK, simply because the factory was so busy, they couldn't logistically allow the tours to negotiate through much of the building. So it was very limited, but still a tour! Polaris Rangers are built in the same building, so you might get a glimpse of those. They did have some vendors there, and a Fuel It semi. Dunno know if Lloyd will be there. The absolute highlight of our AVR two years ago was being able to actually ask questions of an engineer from those old Victory promo videos. That was our highlight!
I'd say go to it, even if it's just once, just to proclaim you've been there! It's the only time you'll see only a handful of Harleys, and hundreds of Victorys! One day there is enough... you will have seen it all.

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I would like to pay homage to our riding heritage and to Victory one of these days. I'm not a drinker, but that wouldn't keep me from going and talking with other riders and hear their stories of destinations unknown. Work will most likely keep me close to home the rest of the year unless I take a business trip. But I do have AVR on my radar for a quick trip there and back for the sake of riding. I hope you enjoy your visit fn, and share some pics and stories when you get back. I rode out to Fort Knox about a month ago and it was a refreshing ride taking the back way in the whole way. |
