ohio. 09 Arlen Ness vision | Having problems with rear brakes failing and mushy pedal have read that I need to bleed the brakes can anyone tell me how to do that in detail. Thanks. |

| Pump break pedal hold down open center bleeder on front caliper. Close bleeder and let pedal up. Do till you have good pedal now do other side |

Chattanooga, TN | I did mine yesterday using a mighty vac to make a one person job easier as I couldn't get any speedbleeders locally and I just wanted to get it done. It should be done every 12k miles or 2 years. Mine now feels like new! Make sure you are using the DOT 4 Ethelene-Glycol type, not synthetic silicone or the other stuff as our brake systems were not designed for it. Not saying it won't work, I used it in my clutch almost 2 years ago and it is still fine. If yours is ABS, I would download the procedure from the service manual. But for non-ABS this should help.
1. Turn handlebars fairly straight and open the brake resevoir.
2. Connect mighty vac or other vacuum tool to the left (as you face the bike) front caliper. Use the bleeder bolt on the top. The one on the rear center is for the rear linked brakes.
unscrew1/4 turn and pump vacuum device. Alternatively you can squeeze the brake lever and then tighten the bleeder before releasing the lever.
3. Repeat step 2 until there is no air, making sure you don't completely drain resevoir like I did. It is really easy to do due to it's small size.
4. Do right front top bleeder. If you are by yourself, you will likely need either a vacuum device or other one person tool such as a plastic jar with hose and one way valve like at O'Reilleys. These make the job easier for one person, but not nearly as good as a vacuum device or speedbleeders.
5. Then you can close and tighten the master cylinder cover after topping off. leaving about 5-10 mm of space at the top.
6. Do the rear linked brakes at the front calipers, left and then right.
7. Do rear caliper.
You're ready to test your work!

Chattanooga, TN | On page 15.14, under FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING it states ABS NOTE: Refer to page 15.40 for ABS system bleeding procedure. I don't have ABS, but it would appear from that note that there is a difference. |

bleeding brakes on 2009 victory vision
