| CRUISE CONTROL CABLE ?LASH LEARN? PROCEDURE
The cruise control cable does not feature inline adjusters. The cruise control module must remove any slack or free play in the cruise control cable whenever a cable is installed, or the throttle body or control module are replaced. Failure to perform this procedure will result in erratic cruise control operation.
NOTE: Performing the ?lash learn? procedure is not required when adjusting or replacing the throttle cables.
1. Place the ignition key in the OFF position.
2. Press and hold the resume (RES) and ON/OFF buttons on the cruise control switch.
3. Turn the ignition key to ON.
4. Continue holding both the resume (RES) and ON/ OFF buttons and start the engine.
5. After the engine starts, watch the cruise indicator lamp on the indicator display until it goes out. If the indicator lamp does not illuminate and remain illuminated when the engine starts, repeat steps 1 through 4.
6. When the cruise control lamp goes out, release both buttons at this time.
7. Press and hold the resume (RES) button. The cruise control indicator lamp should illuminate.
8. Listen for a brief increase in engine RPM as the cruise control module preforms the procedure. Also note that the cruise control lamp will go off during this procedure.
9. Release the resume (RES) button when the engine RPM drops down to idle speed. Turn the engine off. |

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | I don't know about the 2011s, but the manual for my 2008 does say to warm the bike up first, then do the procedure. I've heard of problems with the procedure on the '08s if you don't warm the motor up first.
