Posts: 46 Western Wyoming | I was using Coppertone spf 100 sunblock for a couple of weeks.I've always used spf 50 in the past.Anyway the spf 100 etched the screen on my Zumo 550 so heads up,wash your hands before touching anything.Never had a problem with the weaker stuff.

They can't. I tried that route once after I scratched the hell out of mine. All they can do is offer you a warranty replacement for $175. All and all not a bad deal.

I've used it for over 4 yrs 60k mi. and not a scratch on it.Now my finger prints are imbedded in the screen.Oh well it still works great.I know if it was brand new I'd really be upset.Hopefully this post will keep somone from ruining their day.
By the way Marc I just got back from Huntington Beach Tues. night.I was @ the kid's place for 3 nights.Took my wife and daughter in law out for dinner @ Spark's WoodFire Grill. My wifes birthday and the DIL finished up her residency @ a hospital in Long beach.

Posts: 154 Danbury, Connecticut | Try getting the protective film for a cell phone screen and cutting it to size and applying it over the screen. I just did that to my Zumo 550 because it was starting to get dig marks in the screen and it is much better. |

It will just make it worse. It takes off the coating. Been there :-(

Posts: 1066 Peru, IN | I'd definitely stop using the SPF 100 sunblock. SPF 100 is NOT twice as strong as SPF 50 (or 4x as strong as SPF 25). I burn easily and use an SPF 30. Never get burned even if I'm out all day. It's much more important to get one that is rated "Broad Spectrum" (which means it covers both UVA and UVB) and is water resistant. (Nothing is truely water proof.) If it says "Sports", it's probably water resistant. Brand name doesn't seem to matter on sunblock, either. If you're sweating, reapply it every 2 or 3 hours. If you aren't, reapply it every 6 hours or so. Even the water resistant stuff will wear off in time. |
