Have the bike back at the dealer. I'm not burning oil that I can see. But you can smell oil after quick acceleration and hard riding. I've already had to add oil and I'm getting fed up with the engine. 6 weeks after we bought it the engine had to be totally disassembled because of a crushed oring inside the engine. Getting to the point that I wished I'd never traded the Nomad for the Vision.

xsubrider,

I know it is frustrating. I wonder what could be causing your issue. Was the Vision new or used? Which o-ring was a problem? What were the symptoms of the o-ring issue?

Sorry about the questions but I am trying to understand your oil smell issue.

A few random 2008 Visions had an issue with porous cylinders when the 106 engine was new....but I have never heard of that issue with a 2011.

I really like the 2011 Visions and might get one myself one day.

Take Care

I know your frustration, but don't give up on the bike. If it is still under warranty Polaris should follow it through until fixed. Try to remain diplomatic with the dealer. Check your oil sensor on the left side, and also the small cover on the right side. Check your oil and see what you are losing on any ride. My guess is you're not burning any oil except spray onto your exhaust pipe, which leads me to see if there is a leak around the front of the engine. You could always take a trip to Gainesville, FL and let Kevin Cross look at it for you.

Bought new last July. In the shop six weeks later. Crushed o-ring inside the engine causing low oil pressure. Has the odor of hot lube oil. No burnt smell. Lost a quart of oil over the last month.

Damn, that totally sucks. Is the dealer taking care of you? Have you thought of asking for a new ride? I had a couple of issues when I forst got my ride, but nothing like this. However, when the dealer said he wasn't doing any more I had my ride fixed elsewhere and lawyer send a demand letter. We got a check for much more than the dealer would have spent just doing his part, in less than a week. There are solutions, and I do love my Vision. I hope you find your solution soon.

No word from the dealer yet. I figure it will take a while because I'm low priority. He was kind of bothered that I had already contacted Victory. I told him it was because I'm tired of engine and bike problems so I was stating my position to Victory.

So, now's the time to put the big key in the dealer and contact your A.G. s Office or your lawyer about this. It's obviously a warranty issue and the dealer will be compensated by the factory for the repairs so it would seem to behoove him to do a rapid and accurate repair to keep a customer happy. Might remind him that one P.O.ed ex customer can sink his little bike store in nothing flat, it's like the commercial 'you tell two friends, and they tell two friends....' happened in Everett to a guy who was a crackerjack KAW guy but cheezed off a lot of customers (including me) and he went right on the 'jungle telegraph' next thing you know, he wasn't doing any repair or new sales and KAW Finance came and took back all the bikes and parts and it was 'so long Gervasis' bikes', wanna rent a new, vacant dealership/repair shop in a good location? Stop bending over!

I couldn't agree more, I ran new car dealers for years and there's nothing better nor worse than word of mouth.

Don't let it bother you that it bothers them, you're the customer.  Maintain a positive relationship with them though. Give them no reason to say you're not cooperative, you just want your bike fix in a timely manner, you paid for it.  Also, you shouldn't be a low priority, I don't know why you would be any less than anyone else.  I had a wrench take care of my bike, my GL1200 and I gave it to him late in November, expecting it back in a few weeks. I called to check on it and he said around February.  I tell him, no, now, please, I thought I made that clear.  He assumed I wouldn't ride it again until spring time and told him, wrong answer.  He got it fixed by early January, because he did have a backlog, he still didn't believe I would ride it in the winter.  Persistancy pays off, always ask when can you check on it again next, and if they say they're having problems with Polaris/Victory, talk to the person they are talking to directly and get it from them.  I won't say the dealer will outright lie, but they don't get all the information they should sometime.  I was told once that something wasn't covered under warranty but they would humor me and check while I waited, and it was.  Another time on another issue they told me they wouldn't cover it.  I called directly and asked them why.  They gave me a professional answer that I understood.  Stay a part of the process.

Right now Polaris customer service hates me. I go straight to a supervisor and don't take their programmed answers. I told them to just give me the phone number of the CEO of Polaris and I'd be glad to give him a call. No such luck. Bottom line is I don't trust the engine in the bike since it was torn down just six weeks after purchase and with a low oil pressure problem.

Do they have the bike now, or are you riding it pending answers from them?

They have the bike. I told them that I didn't want the bike back until the oil problem is resolved.

The mechanic who worked on the bike for the o-ring problem actually works where I work. He said that he can't remember if new rings and gaskets were installed or if the old ones were used.

The bike has been in the shop for 8 days. I finally heard something from Polaris today after putting a bunch of posts on Victory's Facebook page.

I agree...Do not let Victory off the hook!!!! If you had engine problems, shortly after purchase as you did, they owe it to you to fix the bike COMPLETELY to your satisfaction. If not get a good attorney and scream like hell...If Victory wants to continue to compete in the market place they need to respond to these types of issues. It has been my expericence,so far, that in most cases the dealer will step up to the plate and mend the problems if you keep after them...As said above a bad mouthing reputation as a lousy dealer can spread quickly these days and kill his business real fast.....Good Luck and hope all works out for you as the Victory Vision is a great bike.......In most cases.....

Perhaps a telephone call to POLARIS that starts out 'This is Barry A. Hammer, an attorney with Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe and I would really like to talk to someone in your legal department RIGHT NOW'

i have to wonder how much of this problem is actually the dealer and Not victory.. The bike was worked on once, did the dealer/tech do a good job? I wonder if Victory wants the dealer to repair it AGAIN but on the dealers dime since it wasnt done correctly? i say this because this very thing happened to me and a kawasaki i had. kaw refused to Pay for something to be fixed again.. and said it was on the dealer to make it right. So then the dealer drug his feet Forever!!!!! i eventually fixed it myself with the help of a service manual... kaw did NOT have the customers back at all... I know victory is better than kaw (anyone is). i just wondering if not it comes down to who pays who since they were already paid once and it wasnt fixed correctly....
