Puddle Jumper
Posts: 24 Hanover, Md | Had the same problem with mine. It drove me nuts. Sounded like something very large had broken loose. In my case, it was oil vapor sludge in the airbox. As soon as I removed the crankcase vent hose from the back end of the airbox, the noise stopped. Then the fun began. I had to remove the top plate to the airbox, and get in there with rags to get up all of the sludge. It was about the consistency of mayonaise. Then used compressed air to blow the rest out, from the vent port forward, making sure my throttle body opening was covered. What a mess. I ride in all kinds of weather, and had not checked my airbox drain tube for quite a while. So I had more moisture in the system than should be. I also think I may have over serviced the oil slightly. Hope this helps. |
