I made a poster with that caption on it and CoolHandLuke made a lighthearted reference along the lines of "tell us who they are....". It got me to thinking and as I thought about it, a lot of specifics came to mind about who we are as a group and why this forum is so different than most. Here are some of my thoughts on who the Vision Riders are. Feel free to add to the list: Vision Riders have progressed way beyond blindly following brand loyalty. They come from nearly every brand of motorcycle sold. They are a diverse mix of cultures and backgrounds. They don't expect perfection, they only want the best. It just so happens that the Vision is the best bike ever made for them. If every model of every bike that the Vision Rider members have owned and ridden were listed, it would astonish the motorcycle community. Nobody intimidates them. Peer pressure and b.s. doesn't work against these guys. They will ride with anybody as long as that person doesn't ride like an idiot or a nuisance. Most seem happily involved in their personal relationships and the spouses don't seem intimidated by the new "mistress" in the garage. Many run their own companies or are in high positions of responsibility. Many are ex-military. Many spend their time inventing upgrades for the bike. They are mostly concerned with lighting, engine, suspension, safety and comfort upgrades. They freely give advice and knowledge. They rarely sugarcoat a problem. Problem solvers are held in high regard. They are amazed at how well Victory did with the Vision, considering the scope of the hurdles involved. Many have been members here for years and consider other members to be friends, even though they have never met face-to-face. Most Vision Riders have been old enough to write the rules and still young enough to enjoy bending the heck out of some of them. They have nothing to prove. They are content in their own skin. I am extremely proud to be a Vision Rider. |
