Posts: 447 Northeastern Penna. | I've searched some on the past forums regarding the 08 Visions radio/ipod cable issues.
Here is the short of it :
I recently had the 08 Vision out and had my smartphone hooked up using the stock cable, playing my downloaded tunes.
Much to my surprise after about the 2nd or 3rd song, it started skipping, then I could hear 2 songs playing at the same time. WTF ?
Now, I had the bike into the dealer last fall for some service.
At that time they reflashed the computer for the radio & a software upgrade was performed.
Could this issue be caused by the original stock ipod cable ?
I appreciate any input. |

Posts: 215 W'ford Tx | I was having issues with mine as well and I borrowed another ipod touch and was able to condemn the cable. I'd power off your iphone/pod and resync it though the computer & try it again. I have an 08 and aside from the cable being bad the only other issue I've run into is sometimes it won't rsee it as an ipod and play it like a regular mp3 so I have no control over it. I resync'd it and hadn't had the issue since. |

| Hi everyone. So yesterday I installed the new Ipod cable on my 2013 Vision. A few things came ot light while doing this. First, the 4-pin connector is tucked up under the wiring beneath the center console. So in order to replace the AUX cable you will need to remove the center console (remove dash bezels, the screws holding the center console on) then lift up the center console (not too far as all the other wires are connected to it). Right under the console you will find the black end cap as discussed in the forum. Untuck the wire from under the other wires, remove the cap, feed the new Ipod cable through the hole in the holding box, connect the 3 pin to where the old AUX cable was plugged in and then connect the four pin to the cable you just removed the black cap from. install the center console back on, the dash bezel, then I suggest fitting the grommet on in the holding box. After this excursion (I am by no means mechanical and after looking up several diagrams on the forum, reading the instructions which came with the cable) which took about 45 minutes, I hooked up my daughters 8 Gb Ipod Nano, my 2 Gb Ipod shuffle and both worked without a hitch. Bike is charging them, hand controls work fully with them and the display shows the artist and song title.
The radio did not need a software update either.
Just wanted to let everyone know how the 2013 model stacked up.

Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | I was able to install my iPod cable without taking anything apart. There is some leeway in the wires and I was able to plug them in no problem. I've only had one issue and after a phone reboot its never come up again. I love it! I do wish it would let me pick genres though. |

Posts: 297 VA | Just a quick note. I have an 08 and every year or so I would have to replace the ipod cable. The problem would start with the ipod cutting in and out while I was riding. The only way to get it to work again was if I physically disconnected the ipod, plugged it back in, and then I would get another 45 minutes before it would do it again. I got the idea that maybe the cable wasn't bad, but the actual male connector on the end. I took apart my old one from 2 years ago, and it's put together OK, but I noticed that it didn't feel as solid. I was going to buy a new cable, but they are pretty expensive.
I ordered a "Cablejive" dock extender, hoping that would take the tension off the connector, and I have had it now for 5 months, and my ipod has not had a single problem. The shortest one I could find was 24", but I coiled it in the box, and it worked great. So, before you spend money on a new cable, try this. I think the cable is $15, so it's not cheap, but a lot less than a new cable. |
