I assume most of you know this, but JUST IN CASE you don't. This 12 Volt accessory "cigarette" plug is NOT switched. Again, it is NOT a switched power source!!

I recently added the Biketronics Speaker and Amp setup...and in the instructions for the amp, they give you an adapter to hook up to the cigarette lighter (which they assume is switched).

When I ran my battery down the other day, I thought I had left my GPS on and it drained the battery, but what really happened is that since the cigarette lighter is NOT A SWITCHED POWER SOURCE, then the amp never turned off and drew power from the battery even AFTER the bike was turned off.

Again...this is probably something most of you know, but for those that don't know...now you do. :-)

This is also why you can charge the battery through this plug...

I knew the 12 V accessory was "HOT" all the time but I never knew I could charge my battery using it................I guess I never even thought of it.

Now thats good to know
I was thinking I needed to add a plug on the battery.
But this is a MUCH better idea...
